"Gorgeous view of the mountain and lake below. The condo is well appointed -- everything you need to feel at home, with an amazing bathtub too. Walking distance from a perfect place to play in the snow and watch the skiers. The 2 youngest kids slept in the upstairs bedroom, the oldest kid slept in the sleeping bag on the couch bed in the living area, and the parents enjoyed the lovely master bedroom downstairs. We speak good words about this place, and insist that you stay here! Thanks to the Ferguson family for sharing Black Bear Lodge with us :-)"Guest: Jen Date of Stay: February 2014 Review Submitted: February 27, 2014View listing
"Renting this home was a perfect holiday for my family. We had never been to Tahoe and did not know what to expect. This home in every way exceeded my expectations. The home is in a very safe gated neighborhood. All the homes are nice, but this one is exceptional. It is a well planned area and there is a lot of space between the homes (not a crowded subdivision by any means). The home is beautiful and the pictures do not really capture the perfection. The home itself is very comfortable. The 4 bedrooms are large enough (2 upstairs and 2 downstairs with bathrooms on each floor), and what is the best is all the rooms have beautiful lake views. The kitchen is well appointed and has all the needed items. The home was built in the 30s and is in great condition and the knotty pine, which I normally do not like, fits the home in a great way. The laws are well kept. The home has two outdoor eating areas one in the back yard and one in the front that faces the lake. There are a few stairs down to the lake and then you are on a private beach shared with other homes. We had the beach to ourselves much of the time. There is also a table and chairs on the beach. The beach is wonderful and those you share with are all very nice. I really appreicated that the home was stocked with all the needed items, soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, napkins etc. I highly recommend the property. I wasn't sure when I booked if it would be good or worth the price, but it was perfect. The home is about a ten minute drive to the closest grocery store etc. We cooked almost all our meals at home because the view at the house is better than anywhere else. The neighborhood the house is in is good for walking. We also did a number of day trips around the lake, and felt we had an excellent base for all the site seeing---but as we looked around we realized we stayed in the best place. The owners were great to deal with and were very nice. I hope to have the opportunity to return...and will always remember the beautiful home and holiday."Guest: familyholiday Date of Stay: June 2011 Review Submitted: July 19, 2011View listing
"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house has an amazing view of the lake!!! We tried to book for the 4th of July... I waited too long and the house was already booked. I did get the nights after the 4th. I under stand why this home, and all of the company's house, were booked so far in advanced for the 4th; Besides the view, the company World Class is the best company I have EVER dealt with for vacation rentals!!!!! :)"Guest: A guest from Celebration, Fl Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 8, 2014View listing
"Majestic, gorgeous, unbelievable views from so many rooms in this fantastic house. The private beach was a huge bonus. We used the property kayak and canoe daily, and then rented a stand up paddle board nearby from sports ltd. The water in our private cove was warmer than typical Tahoe water, and calm enough all day for each of us to try the paddle board for the first time. We were able to take preschoolers in the kayak too since there were no waves in the cove. There were plenty of beach chairs, sand toys, and umbrellas for us to use. We made smores at the fire pit on the beach at night. Such a memorable vacation and home! Owner Roianne is so accommodating, easy to reach and kind. It would be impossible not to LOVE this rental!"Guest: Jeanne Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: June 18, 2014View listing
Lake Tahoe South East Shore NV Travel Tips
Lake Tahoe Vacation Rentals on the Southeast Shore Make the Ideal Vacation Destinations
The lakeside beauty of Lake Tahoe is legendary and has been drawing visitors for decades. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America and its crystal clear blue waters and surrounding snow-capped Sierra Nevada Mountains are picture-perfect. Set 6,229 feet above sea level and measuring 22 miles long and 12 miles wide, it offers plenty of activities all year long. The California/Nevada border runs down the center of the lake and is mainly of significance as all the casinos are on the Nevada side of the lake, located close to the border at Southeast Shore.
Lake Tahoe is a popular bolthole from the big cities with wealthy Californians who want to ski in the winter and escape the heat in the summer. South Shore has plenty of shops and theaters as well as a great choice of restaurants, wine bars and casinos.
What to Expect in the Changing Seasons at Lake Tahoe Cabins
Lake Tahoe has warm sunny summers with very little rainfall. Spring and fall are beautiful seasons with plenty of natural colors. The winter is cold with temperatures barely rising above freezing during the day and guaranteed snowfall from late November through March.
Places to Visit Around Lake Tahoe Vacation Rentals
The nearest city to Lake Tahoe is Carson City, through the mountain pass, a 30-minute drive away. The lakeshore is scattered with small boating communities and resorts which make for great days out. Head for Emerald Bay and see the striking Swedish-style home known as Vikingsholm and Fannette Island, the lake's only island. Kings Beach, Tahoe City, Crystal Bay and Incline Village are just some of the places to head for around the lake.
Further afield, the old silver mining town of Virginia City is a delightfully authentic town with boardwalks along the street and a host of bars, souvenir shops, fine mansions and attractions
Lake Tahoe Lodging Provides a Host of Fun Things to Do
The high season in Lake Tahoe is during the winter months when there is world-class skiing in this scenic area. There are hundreds of ski runs and numerous resorts offering alpine and cross country skiing, tobogganing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides and other winter sports.
In the summer, there is a vast network of mountain trails for hikers and mountain bikers. Sailing, fishing and paddleboating can all be enjoyed in the summer months and kayaking in the green waters of Emerald Bay is particularly lovely. Cruises are available up and down the lake and the US Dixie Paddlewheeler makes a traditional sight on the water. Golf and tennis are widely available. The mountains are also the ideal place for paragliding, climbing, abseiling and other exciting sports.
Lake Tahoe Vacation Rentals Are Better than Hotels in Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe is not a cheap place to stay but there are plenty villas and apartments scattered along the lakeshore. These offer far more comfort and space for a family than the cramped hotel rooms offered in the town center. Set amidst peaceful pine forests with superb lake views, they offer the peace and tranquility which most visitors to Lake Tahoe are looking for. The fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to prepare snacks and meals for the family, and picnics can be packed and taken to the beach or on mountain hikes. Lake Tahoe cabins offer a cozy place to return to after a day on the slopes, with a warm fireplace and somewhere to dry wet outdoor gear.
How to Reach Your Lake Tahoe Vacation Rentals on the Southeast Shore
The nearest commercial airport to Lake Tahoe is the Reno-Tahoe International Airport which is 41 miles away in Nevada. On the California side of the lake, there are three airports: Trukee-Tahoe Airport, Lake Tahoe Airport and Sacramento International Airport which is about a two-hour drive from the lake. Shuttle buses frequently run between Reno Airport and the Southeast Shore, and there are plenty of local buses and taxis serving the area.
