  • Cozy country retreat

"My husband and I stayed in this charming farmhouse for Presidents' Day weekend with our three-year-old and one-year-old girls, and we had a wonderful time. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking, as well as plenty of spices and condiments. The house's floor plan accommodated our family perfectly: we used the two downstairs bedrooms and put the baby's travel crib in the passageway between the living room and master bedroom. One thing I'd note to families with small kids is that there isn't a bathtub; but our girls did fine with a big bowl and some wash cloths in the shower. The setting is idyllic, with views eastward across the lake in one direction and westward over a big pasture in the other direction. We had frigid temps and loads of snow while we were there, but we were still able to play outside a bit, using the sleds stored in the barn on the quiet dead-end road that the house sits at the end of. We also enjoyed a little time at the local branch of the town library, where the librarian was nice enough to let us borrow a few DVDs. It was the perfect "country getaway" that we'd been looking for!"

  • Fantastic family rental!

"My family and I had a reunion at Allan and Sandy's home and it was absolutely perfect. Allan was responsive and friendly throughout the process, and even checked in on us via email several times during our 10-day stay. The house was neat as a pin, freshly cleaned, well-maintained, and very comfortable. The furniture, beds, and linens especially were great, and the kitchen was so well stocked that we had no trouble cooking like we were right at home. Altogether we had 6 adults and 3 children and with the 4 bedrooms there was plenty of comfortable space and privacy for all of us. The town is lovely and quiet but has all the amenities we needed - restaurants, shopping, ice cream and coffee! - and the private beach at the lake was a 3 minute drive from the house. The only time we had to contact the property manager was when the cable box stopped working, and the handyman contacted me immediately and had a new box to us the very next morning. We had a wonderful time and would recommend that anyone rent this house from Allan and Sandy!"

  • Outstanding !

"We just returned from a 4 night stay at the North Star house and the house is wonderful. Bright, cheery, well stocked and a very nice location to visit many attractions as well as hiking in their woods. Having breakfast waiting for us in the refrigerator for our first morning was such a nice touch. Bill and Jenny have certainly put a lot of effort into making this house rental a special moment in all that visit it. The place is immaculately clean and the owners responded quickly to all emails. I would certainly recommend the North Star house as a rental. The Fall foliage was at its peak and there were many festivals in the area we enjoyed."

  • Beautiful setting for making wonderful memories

"We recently rented this lovely home with a beautiful view of Little Lake Sunapee for our daughter's wedding. The house was very well equipped and easily accommodated every after event gathering (impromptu pizza and salad dinner for out of town guest 2 days before the wedding, post-reception, post-wedding parties and Sunday brunch for over 75 people. The owners were gracious, flexible, easy to work with and had a great sense of humor. While a center for family to gather, the house provided a quiet and peaceful place for the bridal party to prepare for the wedding. Our other daughter and family, as well as our son and his family also stayed overnight. We have so many wonderful memories from our stay in this lovely home."
