  • Best Sunsets

"The location is fantastic and the charm of the old house will captivate you. The sunsets are spectacular! Pros: property fits the description provided, nice and responsive home owner, great location, large living room, large dinning room, character of an older home, very clean, well equipped kitchen, friendly neighbors, great sunsets, nice deck overlooking the water that gets sun from sunrise to sunset, nice and responsive property manager, swimming, boating, local attractions are near by, not too far to grocery store, lake front property is fantastic, nice screened porch over looking lake as well as deck on the lake, back patio, wonderful breeze coming off lake cools the house in summer, lake water was warm in August. The house is perfect for 6 people. Cons: if you are looking for luxury, this house is not for you. It is an older home with no dishwasher, no air conditioning (you won't need it with the wind off the lake) and no washer and dryer- but don't let that deter you, the house is clean, has character and is in a great location. If you have very small children you just need to be aware of the road between the house and the water (it's not busy) and that you need to go to the public beach if you're looking for sand and/or walk-in access. The house is great for kids over age 6 or so. Parking is limited at the house (3 cars max) but you can have guests park in another area only a short walk away. I would rent here again in a heartbeat. It was the most relaxed I have been in a long time."

  • This Cottage Has It All!

"This was one of our most restful vacations and it all had to do with the wonderful setting of this cottage. Although I'm not sure calling this a cottage gives the correct impression. This is a fully equipped home with everything you need to have a great time. From the large grill on the deck to the night lite in the bathroom there is nothing the owners haven’t thought of or provided. When you rent a vacation property online you can only hope the pictures you've seen are accurate. No worries with this cottage, not only were the pictures completely accurate they cannot convey its calm and peaceful setting. This cottage has a grassy yard with adirondack chairs, a great dock, canoe and a place to enter the water to take a swim. Since we were there to relax from our very hectic lifestyle our daily routine was taking out a float, swimming, reading, canoeing, and fishing. We fished from dock where we actually caught a couple of big mouth bass. No need to say mine was the largest. The location is also great if you're want to be more adventurous as you're right in the center of Mt. Sunapee, hiking trails and lake Sunapee. We did venture out to New London and Newport and did shopping and antiquing. We had dinner at The Flying Goose and breakfast at the Country Kitchen both were great. I would recommend this home to couples who just need a quiet place to relax or those who are more active and want to enjoy biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing, swimming and more. This home is great for couples or families of any age and any lifestyle, we will definitely be back."

  • Magical place

"We recently spend two months living in Ailsa's lovely farmhouse. It truly is a magical place, filled with family love and mementos that make it feel more like you're visiting than renting. The living room has windows on three sides which allows for ample sunlight and views. The sunsets were fabulous and we enjoyed sitting in the yard, listening to the frogs. Our dog was quite intrigued by the cows -- who returned the interest. Watching their meanderings around the property was always entertaining. Kitchen was fully equipped and we grilled almost every evening. Farmer's market on Sundays in Canaan. With traffic (on Rtes 4 and 120), getting to Dartmouth College main campus could take at least half an hour. But there were nice back routes for stress-free driving. All in all, a wonderful stay that we will always remember."

  • Making Memories....

"In need of a break from a hectic life style with heavy interest in the outdoor elements, Camp Tampaska was the perfect choice for me and my two daughters. The house itself is beautiful and offers a lot of character, with amazing viewing areas. The kitchen came fully equipped with everything I needed and the home was very clean! We spent some time hiking local mountains and eating out at local restaurants. The surrounding communities are a delight, the hikes were perfect levels for my family, and the food delicious. Mostly, we enjoyed staying on the property, kayaking, swimming to the island, fishing, and relaxing. We enjoyed the loons each day and on our third day, saw a bald eagle! The neighborhood is friendly and we enjoyed the property from sun up to sun down. Nights offered a beautiful starry sky, gorgeous sunsets, and a lovely firepit with memories made. We truly enjoyed both the indoors and outdoors equally. It was difficult to say goodbye to Camp Tampaska and I hope to visit there again, soon."
