  • Amazing Property with a Truly Gracious Owner

"Where should we start. From the moment we walked in the door we felt at home. Susan the owner was there when we arrived and gave us a personal tour of the property. The house and view were exactly as advertised and we spent a lot of time just saying wow as we walked from room to room. When we ended up on the deck overlooking the lake we knew we had made a terrific choice for our vacation. The house has everything you would need to stay for a week without worry of dragging extra stuff along for the trip. Each room has a great view and the furnishings are all comfy and inviting. One of our favorite things (and there were many) are the Dragonflies that appear throughout the house in the shape of artwork, lamps, in the furniture and wind chimes. I am not sure I actually found all of them throughout the week but each time I discovered another one it made me smile for very personal reasons. We ate many of our meals in the screened in porch on the deck. The room just feels right for a family meal. We rented a pontoon boat from the marina for the week and had no problem tying up at the 40 foot dock. The lake is beautiful and has just the right amount of activity. It is great for water sports but also nice for an evening ride up to the sand bar for pizza or a tour of all the homes on the lake. There is plenty to do in the area if you feel compelled to actually leave the house. The property management company came by to do some yard work and remove trash and they were friendly and respectful. On a personal note Susan went above and beyond for us and we feel like she is now a friend instead of the owner of a rental. Thanks Susan we will be back."

  • Wonderful!

"My husband and I spent a week in this lovely lake house on beautiful Lake Winona. The house is exactly as pictured. It was clean and comfortable. The lake is pristine. I was amazed how clean the water was. We were looking for peace and quiet and this home was just what we hoped for. Early morning looking out at the lake and hearing the loons was wonderful. We would occasionally see people paddling by in kayaks or canoes. Very quiet. Jet skis are not allowed on the lake and the few motor boats that did pass us on our canoeing adventures were very respectful. One night we were surprised to see a float plane go right past the house and land on the lake and a bit later seeing it take off! While this home is peacefully tucked on the lake, it is an easy drive to the area highlights. You can find everything you need right in Ashland but if for some crazy reason you really needed to go to walmart, it isn't very far. The owners provided all the information we needed and they were spot on with their restaurant recommendations. It was a fantastic week on Lake Winona and if possible we would definitely rent this home again."

  • Idyllic retreat - great for kids

"Our extended family stayed in the farmhouse over a two week period this summer, and absolutely loved the property and the pond. (A note about the "pond": it is a beautiful small lake in itself, more peaceful than Squam, and with more abundant wildlife such as nesting loons.) The historic house is large and spacious, beautifully furnished and thoughtfully supplied. The large flat lawn, sandy beach, play set and fire circle make it more kid-friendly than any lake property we've seen before. We enthusiastically recommend it."

  • The perfect retreat

"My husband and I spent a week at this very peaceful cottage. It is on shared property but found the owners to be friendly and helpful. They were not at all intrusive. The cottage is very rustic and compliments the simplicity of the area. We loved waking up with a beautiful view of the lake, having coffee on the porch and spending the day on the boat in an absolutely beautiful lake. I would highly recomend this well maintained, relaxing cottage. We plan to return next year."
