  • A Slice of "Heaven"

"We spent a long weekend at Bart and Lynda's house. Bart described it as a piece of heaven and he did not misquote. The house was very comfortable and the setting is perfect. We enjoyed the quiet cove and the beautiful surroundings. We sat by the dock, kayaked, fished, and sat by the fire in the evenings. There are restaurants near, but I have to say my favorite was the one we ate here at the house. There is water on three sides of the house - it is literally 2 feet from the shore. If you want a serene setting, a place to escape from the daily grind, this is the place to book. We will definitely be back for a longer stay in the future. Bart was helpful, charming, and available for questions or information. It is obvious he loves this property. Thanks Bart!!"

  • Just perfect

"I cannot say enough good things about The Coop. I was totally worn out and needed a "reset" week in a bucolic setting. This place was just perfect. A lot of attention to detail was put into the design and building of this wonderfully intimate building, and it envelops you in a restful atmosphere immediately. There is a kitchen that has all the utensils and appliances one could want, plus many extras such as spices. The electric heater is available when needed; I stayed in mid-September and needed it a few times. Wireless connectivity is spotty, so I would not recommend this for anyone who will need to use the Internet a lot. This wasn't a problem for me, however, since the whole point of choosing this place was to get away from it all. I liked the excuse to not respond to work emails! There are games and books in a large cupboard, and Phyllis and Mitch have assembled a 3-ring binder with information about local places to eat, shop, hike, and visit. One of the tremendous assets of the location is that it is at the intersection of two dirt roads that offer excellent walking hikes (I've heard these referred to as "wikes"). It was great to roll out of bed and not have to drive to another place to get in a good bit of exercise. 100 feet away from The Coop you have the choice of which road to explore, and you are off. Both roads follow old stone walls and are through mature forests. I did 1.5 hour walks every day and seeing the sun dappling down through the canopy of trees was soothing to the soul. Phyllis and Mitch were available as resources yet also let me have complete privacy. They are definitely one (two) of the selling points for this property. I invited my wife up to join me at one point, and we decided that we will be coming back to The Coop at some point."

  • My hard-to-please husband loves this house

"The great room is a terrific space with a lovely view. The large, handsome stone fireplace kept everyone cozy during our season's first snowfall. We cooked elaborate meals all weekend and the kitchen had everything we needed--including multiple ways to brew coffee. Our six-year-old loved exploring the toys in the toy cupboard and the backyard--and she could not get enough of the ping pong table. The instructions for the house (trash, heat, fireplace, etc) are clear and well-organized, and include a terrific list of things to do in the area. In 15 years of vacationing, this is the ONLY house my husband has ever said he would return to. Woo hoo!!"
