"Beautifully decorated, and everything you might need at your home away from home. The owners are great as well, answered my phone call late at night when I couldn't find the building(my mistake I was having a blonde moment). Conveniently located by Weirs Beach. This place is pretty spacious and I wish I would have brought my dog with me, next time I will. I will be renting here again definitely next year. Thank you so much!"

"We rented this house because we had to attend a wedding at moody mountain farm and this lake house exceeded all of our expectations. The house was big enough for all of us and the lake was absolutely breathtaking!! The owner was so nice and accommodating. If you're looking for a nice weekend getaway, you're definitely not going to be disappointed with this place! Thank you for letting us borrow your home! We might've found our annual "friends getaway" lake house for next summer!"

"We rented this house for Labor Day weekend. Although this house already had great reviews, none of them did it any justice! This house is clean, organized and loaded with everything you could need to make your vacation easier. We caught a frog and saw a baby bear in the woods as we walked to the deeper end of the beautiful river which sits right on the back yard of the house. If you aren't a swimmer, there is still a ton to do with books, board games and a ping pong table. The stereo system is excellent and the kitchen utensils are top notch! The Bon fire and picnic table are a perfect way to close the night. Gina (the caretaker) is very helpful and pleasant. I have nothing negative to say about this house and will definitely love to return next summer."

"This cottage is as described. It's frilly, comfortable and absolutely perfect for a small family (2 adults 2 kids). The layout has a decent-sized kitchen that has what you'd need for simple cooking: a skillet, a couple of pots along with a ton of utensils and a block of knives. There's a gas range and oven with a double sink. Coffee pot is programmable! No dishwasher, but a ton of dishware and various glassware/mugs. The living/dining area is tiled, all open and windows line the walls facing the water. The bedrooms are in the back and are small - bathroom is between the bedrooms and has a skylight for natural light.
The house is situated ON the water - as in - there's a boat "garage" under the house. On quiet nights you can hear the water lapping the foundation. There's a wide deck over the water and a dock for your boat. You can jump off it but shallow dives only and probably not advisable even those as the dock is pretty high off the water's surface. The bottom is sandy and our toddler could stand. The view is beautiful. The gas grill works like a charm.
A couple of warnings for those who've never rented lakefront cottages:
1. Space is at a premium, so your neighbors are very close. NH has few fireworks regulations so it's possible your neighbors are shooting them off. This particular cottage has its twin that shares the deck and yard, and a cottage behind these two that also shares the yard, deck and docks. We had no issues but it's not private (if that's what you're looking for) - actually, the guys in the twin cottage were great fun.
2. This is a lake cottage, and yes, there will be spiders as there are bugs. No matter how much cleaning you do there will likely be some multi-legged critters. This cottage probably has a couple of places that the cleaning rag has missed, but overall we found it VERY clean. If you're picky, though, about some overlooked places... well, good luck to you. We've rented some very expensive places with foot-long dustbunnies under the couches.
3. The beach described here is indeed .25 miles from the house - as another renter complained. That's a 5-minute walk for most people (!!) and you can park if you're so inclined to make the 15-second drive. The beach is sandy and the water is roped off with a great sandy bottom. There are a couple of picnic tables too.
Overall, Cathy (the owner) is a love to work with and extremely flexible. We would definitely return for a quick get-away!"
