"I feel compelled to write a review because we had such a special week at this rental! The owner is just lovely to deal with. And she really takes great care to provide an AWESOME rental. No need to lug sheets and towels to this place - the beds are beautiful, comfortable, clean and already made! The cottage is a lake cottage but it's so CLEAN! The kitchen is well-stocked and CLEAN! Paper products are plentiful, which is also something that sometimes lacks at other rentals. Did I mention the place is ridiculously CLEAN? My only regret? I wish we had booked two weeks instead of just one. All rentals should be this perfect. Thanks to the owner for a truly great vacation at a great house."

"we were 11- 8 adults and three teenagers. the house was perfect as it was a comfortable fit for all. the area is beautiful, quiet and peaceful. the house is fully equipped-towels, kitchen goods, staples and play equipment. the teenagers had no wish to leave the place as the fishing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming kept them busy. and family dinners lasted long into the evenings followed by poker games at the large dining room table. we could not have asked for anything better.... it was our best family vacation and it will leave wonderful memories."

"This is the second year we've come to Swain's Lake and we wondered if it could be possibly be as wonderful as our visit last year. Stepping onto the deck to see the lake was like coming home and when our last day arrived we, again, didn't want to leave. Mary Ann and Ken met us upon arrival to make sure we had everything we needed; they are wonderful, thoughtful hosts! We enjoyed many moments on the upper deck, eating meals, reading, sipping coffee and watching the changing light on the lake. We explored the nooks and crannies of the lake in the kayaks and cooled off by bobbing just off the sandy beach in the warm lake waters. Swains Lake is very clean so you get to see lots of wildlife: loons (our favorites), great blue herons, ducks and geese, hawks and fish darting in the clear waters. Every morning I watched a muskrat make her way along the shore right next to the house leaving a glassy V-shaped wake behind her. The dogs LOVED fetching their toy sticks into the water from the beach and the human swimmers in the family swam across the lake several times. In addition to several Barrington hikes, we took a day trip to Pawtuckaway State Forest and were rewarded with a beautiful hike to the top of North Mountain. Must tries are the Stonehouse Baking company (donuts! bagels!), the Calef Country Store (delicious sandwiches, homemade dog treats and the famous CCS aged cheddar cheese) and Zampa Restaurant. We've already made reservations for two weeks next year!"
