  • Amazing home!!!!

"I rented this property for a weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday and have to say I was blown away! As another reviewer mentions, the photos really don't do this place justice and it is much bigger than I anticipated. The first floor of the house has three bedrooms and a pullout couch, the second floor has a huge kitchen, living room w/fireplace, dining area, bar and porch with a hot tub and the third floor is the master bedroom with an area with couches/fireplace, tons of windows with a gorgeous view and a huge bathroom .... oh, and there are two laundry rooms which was a pleasant surprise! When we arrived it was impeccably clean with linens/towels and anything we could need. The owner, Mike, was also a pleasure to deal with. I couldn't recommend this place enough!"

  • This place even has a ton of wall outlets!

"You are no doubt reading this review because you have decided you want to go away, are pretty sure of the location and your budget and the features you'd like in a rental property. You are probably toying with this one and maybe 1 or 2 more. I suggest you email the owners of all of those rentals you are considering with a few questions and see what kind of email you get back. See how long it takes for them to respond, if they answer those questions, what the tone of the email is like and whether they seem friendly and on the ball. I am writing this review to help you make a decision. You see, the owner does not need my help finding renters, so I am writing this for you, the potential renter. Julie, the owner, doesn't need to advertise heavily. I know she has this listed on the usual vacation websites but other than that, it's word of mouth and positive stays that are keeping her calendar full of repeat vacationers. I could go on about how great Crystal lake is or how nice New England is, but you probably know that already and want the real dirt, so to speak. I have rented many houses over the years and I actually enjoy looking at the listings. I'm the one in my family who does all of the leg work when it comes to inquiries, reservations, payment and contracts. So, I have looked at a gazillion listings and contacted many owners. I have had a number of questions for Julie before moving ahead with the actual booking, and more interactions during the reserving process. She is THE BEST owner I have ever dealt with, hands down. No, we are not cousins and I do not know her otherwise. She answered every one of my annoying questions (Do the bedrooms have doors? Bureaus? How close is the nearest neighbor? etc.) and then some. I learned a long time ago, despite great photos, to not assume anything. You know how you sense when someone is in it for the money and to make it worse you get there and find the place so unappealing, like it smells and there's no room for your stuff and there's one lamp in the whole house? Julie and this home are the total opposite. If there's anything I'd like you to take away from this review is this: You are paying for an experience, not just a house. The owner is NORMAL, the house and property are divine, there are only pleasant surprises and you won't regret this choice."

  • Great place for a family reunion

"Our extended family gets together every other year. One year Vancouver, one year Duck, NC, one year Cape Cod, this was one of our favorites. The Lodge is right on the water with plenty of room to move around and everyone can find their favorite place to read, relax, swim, canoe, access the Internet and explore. When we were there an eagle swooped on the lake, caught a fish and flew to a tree on the property for its feast. The loons at night were magical. There is plenty to do in the area, including the Castle in the Clouds, Wolfboro shopping and boat rentals, the Mt. Washington sightseeing boat from Center Harbor and Wolfboro. The house was clean, well equipped with puzzles, games, cable TV, and the owners are a pleasure to deal with. For a true lake house experience, this fits the bill."

  • A most memorable getaway!

"What a perfectly charming cabin! What a fabulous location! My wife and I spent a long weekend here at the end of September. Stepping into the cabin is like walking into a time capsule from the 1930's. Cozy, warm knotty pine and exposed beams and the beautiful full legnth screened in porch made it easy to sit and just relax. The views of the lake and mountains in the distance are spectacular. The first day, the winds where whipping at 20 to 30 knots across the lake creating dramatic whitecaps and causing large waves to crash against the rocks and the big granite outcropping the cabin sits on. It was quite a sight to wake up to! The weekend went by all to quickly and we have decided that we'll have to go back next suumer with our boat and stay for a week. We just wish it wasn't such a long time!"
