  • Ossipee Lake Cottage - 23-30 Aug 2014

"My wife and I had a wonderfully relaxing week at the cottage. The weather was ideal and words can't describe the peace and tranquility we experienced sitting next to the shore where a really nice deck with a table and chairs are situated. This is especially true in the early morning when the loons are out on the lake. The owners live in their beautiful dream house next to the cottage and both properties are about 75 feet from the lake with a beautifully landscaped lawn leading down to the lake. The owners were very friendly and gracious and kindly permitted the use of their beach area to launch our canoe. The water was crystal clear and the temp around 78 degrees. I recommend that water shoes be used to swim from the cottage steps leading to the water as there are some rocks to navigate until reaching the sandy areas. The cottage is seasonal and very quaint with knotty pine panels and a beautiful fieldstone fireplace. There is a very nice dining area, a large living room, two small bedrooms and a nice porch that also has a table and chairs along with a washer and dryer. The cottage contains all of the amenities needed, i.e., cooking, linens, fans, large screen TV/DVD, books, games, CD player, etc. Also, there is a WiFy signal from the owners house with a fairly good signal strength. I even picked it up listening to music on my Kindle down on the deck next to the lake. Also recommend slippers or shoes walking around the cottage as the floor is made of stone. There is a convenience store/pizza and sub sandwiches about 5 minutes from the cottage. Otherwise, the nearest grocery store/state liquor store is about 15 minutes on Rt. 16. I highly recommend this property and would stay there again."

  • classic lake experience

"It was fun to find an old-style lake cottage. More affordable too. I like to kayak and fish in calmer waters and this area of the lake is great for that as it seems to have less power boat traffic - no doubt because it is in the quiet/remote part of the lake. If you like less developed, natural views, this is about best you can do on Winnipesaukee (nice view of Ossipee mountains). The house is just a regular small cottage, but nicely decorated, tidy, and clean. Everything you need for vacation is there, without a lot of the owner's personal stuff in the way. The yard was 'natural', but well kept and there is plenty of deck space to enjoy the surroundings."

  • I want to keep this a secret

"If I say how much we enjoyed this place it won't be available for us to rent next year. All of us were so thrilled with the clean and relatively warm water, great dock and raft to swim to. The house is very large, five bedrooms instead of the four listed. A wonderful dining table for all of us board players. Kitchen is huge and very well equipped. The location, so close to lovely Meredith, is excellent. Great walking town. There were tons of activities ;we almost welcomed a rainy day so that we wouldn't mind leaving that peaceful lake. And we did hear the loons sing. How thrilling! Good restaurants near by. I miss it already."

  • Had a great time

"My family had a wonderful week at this house. The house has many large windows with skylights. The owner was very responsive to emails and made sure we had all the information we needed for a wonderful stay. I recommend that you rent a boat to enjoy the beautiful lake and its many attractions. Plenty of room for all. We would definitely come back for another week."
