  • Wonderful home that will exceed your expectations!

"The Cobbles is a wonderful place for family & friends! Photos & description are but a simple, 1-dimensional view of this multi-faceted gem & everywhere you turn will surprise & delight you! 14 adults shared this lovely home for a family reunion & we all shared one common view: the Cobbles felt like home & we can't wait to come back! The Cobbles is an immaculate & lovingly maintained home, guest house, and grounds that retain the charm & aura of the family that owns, lived, played, & loved within her welcoming walls for many generations. Extensive grounds include a separate guest house, tennis court/basketball hoop, outdoor areas, private beach, boathouse, & waterfront deck. The Main House has a lovely screened porch facing the lake and you'll quickly discover why the body of water in front of you is called Sunset Lake. Spectacular! The very large great room & living room have comfortable & varied seating areas for eating, playing, lake views, reading, piano fun, watching TV, or quiet and/or spirited conversations. Enjoy ping pong or an outdoor deck overlooking the grounds and woods. One thing is certain; you will never run out of choices or lack for just the right spot for fun/relaxation! The kitchen had every utensil, pot, pan, dish, glass, cup, tray, or gadget needed, with basic spices & ingredients provided. There are basic soaps & paper products, all appliances work well, & there is a 2nd refrigerator. The boathouse, beach, & lakefront deck offer kayaking, canoeing, & swimming; with toys & personal flotation devices allowing for hours in the water or soaking up the sun, including a picnic table & clothesline. Don’t forget fishing gear since the lake is home to tempting bass & sunfish! The master bedroom is a very large, lovely retreat with a private balcony overlooking the lake. Other bedrooms in the main & guest house are great with comfortable beds, ample closet/storage space, & thoughtful conveniences; all bathrooms are clean & comfortable. There’s convenient grocery shopping in Alton, great food (try Shibley's at the Pier) & lots of sites to enjoy in the area surrounding Lake Winnipesaukee including Old Orchard Beach, Portsmouth, & Mt. Washington. The owner was a pleasure to work with & quickly & professionally answered questions by email. One thing is certain, from the moment you arrive at the Cobbles, to your last day, you will not regret your decision to stay in this fantastic home. Thank you, we cannot wait to return!!"

  • Wedding Weekend in Oct

"What a wonderful long weekend we had for our daughter's wedding at Castle in the Clouds. We had four generations staying at the houses and it was perfect. Plenty of room for each generation to have some space along with large common areas for enjoying each other. The ages were from 4 months to 80 years old. The kitchen is incredibly stocked with pots, pans etc. It made feeding everyone very easy. All the girls gathered at the house before the wedding and the pictures are beautiful. A minor issue came up and was addressed by the owners immediately. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. The house helped round out the perfect wedding."

  • Breathtaking Views

"The cabin and guest house were perfect. They were in a secluded location that was very peaceful and relaxing. We hiked Mt. Major on Saturday and it was only a short drive away. The dock was great to go down to and get an even broader view of the lake. The kitchen had plenty of pans and utensils to cook with however there was a need to make a stop during the trip to grab paper towels and hand soap for the bathrooms. All in all it was a perfect location and a warm welcoming home. We plan on going back!"

  • Very private/peaceful area, on cove, not big lake

"Overall, I personally enjoyed the stay, is peaceful, close to everything but is not for people with boats or want to be in the mix of things on a big lake. Positives: -Very private area -Paddle boat -Canoe -Swim dock -Fairly warm water -Fire pit -Big property -Near restaurants and the tilton outlets -Good for families that want privacy but not for partiers or people who have a boat that wants to be on the big lake. Not the best but still OK: - It is not connected to Lake Winnisquam it is on the cove that is technically on the lake but split between small trees. There is a few trails to get through to the actual lake. However, the water is very calm and great for swimming and playing in the water. It is what the title says "Cabin on the cove". -The largest Epham cabin that is shown in the pictures where the others is not is adjacent to the Emerson cabin but the Thoreau cabin is across the street -It is not the cabins fault but there is a lot of bugs outside and no way to keep them out of the house -The cabin is a cabin it could be updated but still in decent condition My recommendation is to go drive if you know the location to check out the cabins or areas before you book! The owner Steve is a very nice guy too!"
