A Place to Recharge the Body and Mind
"I rented this peaceful and private waterfront home a few years ago for my family. My children still talk about how much fun they had there. This time I brought my girlfriends for the first half of the week and my colleagues at work for the other half. As expected, we all had a wonderful time. We climbed Mt. Monadnock and hiked the different trails which are accessible from the house. Kayaking Rockwood Pond is peaceful and will give anybody the perfect vista of the beautiful natural surroundings. If you are tired of crowds and the hustle and bustle of typical vacation sites, this is the place for you. The house itself is spacious, charming, and comfortable. The hot tub under the stars is definitely a plus, but there is so much more to discover."

"Being originally from NH and now residing in SC, it was nice to "come home". The cabin was very welcoming, nicely kept, peaceful, quiet and gave ample time for solitude and reflection. We are enjoying our stay immensely. The fact that it is dog friendly makes it all the better, our furry child enjoyed it also. Finally got to explore Cathedral of the Pines, and what a place, the founders, I'm sure had no idea how far reaching this place is, or how inspiring and comforting it is to the soul."

"We chose this location as it was close to our son's camp, and we loved it.
The area is beautiful, the house was great, and the screened in porch was perfect for sitting and enjoying the sound of the brook while reading when the day was done.
It was 100°+ for the first couple of days we were there. There is one window a/c in the master bedroom on the first floor. We just kept the doors closed to the upstairs, and our son slept on the couch. It cooled the downstairs enough to be comfortable. We're also from FL, so this was not a big deal for us. May want to consider this if you need central air. The next few nights it was more than cool enough to keep the windows open.
Yes, a few things need to be updated, but everything worked just fine. We were barely in the house anyway, as we went traveling around. Crotched mountain is right down the road, as is a small beach (we really didn't want to go swimming though). I suggest you walk around the towns of Peterborough and Keene, and drive a little further south to visit Cathedral of the Pines. The twin mountains were close enough for a short day trip. Brattleboro, VT is also close by. There is cable and.WI-FI, which is great as cell service is spotty, even on our Verizon phones.
My cons, couldn't really find any. I am used to older houses, so the steep stairs didn't really surprise us, as that's just the way these old homes are. We did have a small issue first day, and the owner was quick to take care of it. We recommended this home to family and friends. We've also decided if our son goes back to camp next year, we'll gladly rent the home again. It was perfect for our four night stay."

"Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at this beautiful country estate in the Monadnock Region of NH. It was an ideal location for us to visit our local relatives in southern NH and attend a larger family reunion at the Vermont Academy, just across the river in Saxtons River, Vermont. The house has plenty of room and gorgeous country decor. We spent much of our time enjoying “rolling hill” views on the large front porch. Evenings were spent cooking s’mores around the camp fire or relaxing in the hot tub following a day of hiking. This place truly made us feel at home. The owners were wonderful to work with and responded to any of our questions in a very timely manner. We will keep this place in mind for future trips back to New England."
