  • A great winter getaway

"Stayed for a week in February. Enjoyed beautiful ocean views, a relaxing atmosphere, the hot tub, and hanging out in downtown Portsmouth. We saw all kinds of birds, including a snowy owl directly across the street. We also saw a deal hanging out on the rocks."

  • A piece of heaven!

"I hesitated to write a review as I wanted to keep this place all to myself and didn't want to give away this hidden gem, but the owner was so wonderful, I just have to share my experiences with this piece of heaven. The property is as described. It is a simple cabin which is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The owner was flexible and even met with me before the visit so that I could view the cabin to see that it would suit my needs. The owner was always available if I had any questions and graciously shared vast knowledge of history of the area. The lake is pristine. The area just beautiful. There are several other lakes nearby to explore, but once you experience Rocky Pond, they all pale in comparison. There is a public boat put-in which abuts the camp, as the owner notes, at which you will see traffic -- mostly on the weekend, but as a solitary traveler, it kept me in contact with the world and I did not mind it at all. You will find yourself in the middle of the woods overlooking a gorgeous pond, yet downtown Hollis is just a few minutes away with grocery, farm stands, small restaurants, etc. You can even find a Walmart within 6 miles if you really need it. The cabin is well equipped with utensils you need for meals and prep. Wood was provided for fire in the stove on cool nights. Beaver Brook Association, located in Hollis, maintains a wonderful trail system which is well marked and well maintained for anything from a short, easy walk, to more challenging hiking experiences. The office is open during the week and they are very helpful if you need information finding trails to suit your needs and maps are left available for you at the main office when they are not open. If you love the woods, love peace and quiet and getting away from it all, and want to spend your days hiking, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and peacefully relaxing at a clean sandy beach, this is the place for you. This camp is a place where you can re-connect with yourself, family, friends and other loved ones, without the distraction of today's world while basking in the more simple pleasures of life. I spent a week at this glorious location and I loved it so much that before I left, I booked a return visit for next summer at the owner's larger camp so that I can return and share this Shangri-La with those I love."

"Our tribe has had family reunions for over 20 years around the country. All agreed this was our best location and accommodations by far. Thank you."

  • Summer 2014 - A BEAUTIFUL SPOT!

"Beautiful home in a very private location, well off the beaten path. Well stocked and very comfortable. The owners were great to work with – A+!! The rental came with guest passes to the clubhouse which offered 2 pools and many other amenities, and we also had a fire permit and access to fishing spots. The deck is fantastic and the fire pit was a welcome addition to our quiet evenings. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this house, and it is centrally located so we were able to day trip to many locations in the White Mountains and the Lakes region. An easy drive to Mt Washington, the Kancamagus highway, Franconia Notch, North Conway, Lake Winnepesaukee and Squam Lakes, the Castle in the Clouds, and many other attractions. The property is very well managed and the owners made our satisfaction a top priority. They were available by phone at all times, which was helpful when a freak rainstorm knocked out the power briefly. Everything ran smoothly and we would definitely consider renting this property again."
