Blissful Retreat on Top of the Mountain!
"We love coming to Angel Fire and we can say incontrovertibly, that this has been the best visit yet! A large contributor to that, was "nesting" in this heavenly slice of mountainside! Our host gave us clear directions and if you find yourself here in the winter months please heed her excellent advice to not have any challenges by USING AWD or 4-wheel drive as the road up to the home is challenging in snowy/icy conditions! The wonderful advantage of this location is that you are indeed, in a very peaceful and serene spot. It is the ideal place to completely relax and enjoy nature. The studio was equipped with all the basics and was the perfect size for my husband and I. The gas fire in the living area does a stellar job of warming the whole studio and during the day, the sun is a great enhancer. The bed was comfortable and we had the most incredible view of the stars at night. Just breathtaking. Also, we absolutely loved the sunrise and it was better than any TV show, to watch it each morning. It is a quick drive from the studio down to Angel Fire so very convenient too. As a runner (in case there are any of you out there that might be curious about running here) I braved the mountain on our last day and ran, crawled and walked my way back up. Twas marvelous! If asked what we loved most about this trip to Angel Fire, we would probably say the abundant wildlife! Wild turkey, elk, and so many beautiful deer. It was easy to go out on the deck and visit with them each day and they gave us many wonderful photo ops!! Of course, seeing a bear would've made the trip complete yet, this trip has been truly special! We will definitely be back!"

"So sorry for the late posting. VRBO no longer titles the listing as "cabin in the woods". It was so snowy durming our visit that I didn't recognize the picture. We had 6 adults & 3 preschool aged children. It was large enough for children to play but just the right size to be cozy. We were able to put a gate across the bottom of the stairs & the bedroom door at the top locked. This made it extremely kid friendly for our grandson with special needs.
It was our family ski weekend & the cabin was great.
FYI we have a non skier in our group so 2 men went snowmobiling with Angel Fire Excursions 1 morning. They had a great time, but it was a physical workout. Those machines are more like riding dirt bikes than riding in a 4 wheeler..
We'll stay here anytime we can. Oh yes, we saw several deer more than once."

"We have enjoyed the Elkhouse for the past three years and have never been disappointed. The price is right, the house is cozy, and the kids love the loft! Dealing with Louise makes planning our trip easy, and we look forward to skiing Angel Fire annually. We also enjoy the sledding hill and the quiet atmosphere in the neighborhood."

"Perfect location for a great spring break! We arrived at the condo to find everything in order. It was clean, well appointed & comfortable for our family of six. I had a question about internet access & was able to contact the owner, very quickly. She referred me to a 3-ring binder that was left for guests. The binder is full of information about the condo, check-in & check-out, Angel Fire resort info, local restaurants, etc. We cooked most of our own meals & had plenty of cookware, utensils, plates, cups, etc. The local grocery is a 2-minute drive, as are plenty of local restaurants & shops.
We were pleased to be so close to the slopes (only 2 blocks away), but we opted to take a shuttle to & from the resort. The shuttle cost is $1/day per rider and it runs every 30 minutes or so. Ask your driver about a 12-ride punch card for $10. Friendly drivers, pick-up right in front of the condo & drop-off at the resort. Take the shuttle & keep it easy.
We enjoyed our stay & will definitely be staying again. The owner is easy to work with and very responsive. I can't say enough good things about our stay. We are looking forward to coming back!"
