  • Lovely casita in serene setting

"Clean, comfortable, simply and tastefully decorated. Very quiet and peaceful setting. Sunsets were divine. Loved that it was walking distance to Arroyo Seco where I was taking a weaving class. Highly recommendable!"

  • Great central location and wonderful guest house

"The guesthouse at Northstar Farm has lots of southwest charm and plenty of space for a family. We chose Arroyo Seco for its central location because we wanted to ski at Taos Ski Valley (20 minutes away) and also visit other ski areas. Although the skiing was mediocre at best (thanks to a significant drought), we had a great week, doing some hiking (Diviserado Peak) and exploring, including the Taos Pueblo and local hot springs. We had a great dinner at Saboroso in Arroyo Seco, but mostly cooked dinner at home. The house is well-stocked, and very quiet and private, including the shared hot tub, as our paths never crossed with the owners in using the tub (although we certainly wouldn't have minded sharing, as the owners were delightful people). I would definitely recommend this property as a base for skiing or exploring the Taos area."

  • Great!

"It was excellent. We really liked the place! The atmosphere was cozy, very clean and we'll decorated. It has a real southwest flavor. The attendant was friendly and helpful during our visit. Everything was there that we needed and ready to use just like home even better. Arroyo Seco is a beautiful community. We enjoyed our visit to Taos. We definitely plan on returning. We would recommend this rental to family and friends! We had a GREAT time!!"

  • Iccredible stay in a wonderful place!

"Last fall when my husband and I made reservations at Casita Des Montes, our intention was to stay for one month and be joined by our friends for two of the weeks. Between fall and our planned April vacation our entire lives changed when my mother had a serious illness and consequently needed to sell her home and move in with us. This move necessitated us selling our home and moving as well. In the end we were only able to spend two of our planned four weeks at the casita. Our experience was unique in all the vrbo rentals in which we have stayed both domestic and abroad. Throughout the many changes in our plans, Linda, the property manager was in frequent contact with us via email. She was very prompt with her responses and incredibly informative and helpful. Upon arrival, Linda introduced us to the casita and gave us tips about the "personality" of the house. One of the best features of our stay was having Linda right there on the property. She is a wealth of great information about the area and if she doesn't know the answer to a question she makes every effort to find out. We liked Linda instantly and invited her over for dinner one night during which we picked her brain mercilessly about Arroyo Seco and it's environs. It was due to her knowledge of the area that we visited several really neat places we had never before been to in spite of numerous vacations in Taos. One of the places we visited was Wild Rivers where the Red and Rio Grande rivers converge. It was beautiful! Another place we went three times was the road from Pilar through the gorge that runs beside the Rio Grande called the Rio Grande del North National Monument. While there we saw two types of ducks none of us had ever seen before as well as all the beautiful scenery. Because we were unable to locate the petroglyphs, Linda took time out of her day and accompanied us on a two and a quarter mile hike during which we witnessed a family of big horn sheep as well as the elusive petroglyphs. The casita was perfect in every way. The kitchen amenities were second to none, including great knives which always seem to be lacking in every other place we have stayed. We definitely intend to return to Casita Des Montes and cannot recommend it highly enough. If you go, you will love the casita, the property, the little town of Arroyo Seco and especially the sunsets over distant mountains. Go ahead, make that reservation, you will not be sorry."
