• Great location!

"Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Hello!

We loved the casita, it was super cute, cozy and clean. The kitchen was great - so nice to see that there were things like salt and pepper and dish soap already there for us to use. I've stayed in other places that we had to buy everything if we wanted to cook. There were even some plastic containers for leftovers and a to-go coffee cup! Love that :)

The fireplace was great! We are so thankful that the heat worked well because it was so cold! Also we are SUPER HAPPY that there was a humidifier. What a huge difference that made for us with the dry climate/altitude there. The bed was very comfortable.

Just a few small cons: Parking was a bit challenging since it was so close to the square though, especially on Saturday night. Park your car and leave it, there are many places within walking distance to eat, shop, etc. The street lights are so bright that it would be very helpful to have some curtains in the bedroom. It is like daytime in there at night, all night. The couch was really small and uncomfortable and had some stains on it. And there is not much on the walls - some local artwork would have been awesome!! All in all though it was truly an adorable place.

As far as the rental company goes, I got good service, but I was very surprised that the cost of the condo was well above what was advertised on the site because of taxes and fees. Shouldn't the cleanup fee be included in the cost of a night's stay, for example? We ended up paying over $600 for 3 nights on a place that was advertised $80-$115 per night. I understand about taxes and fees and see the disclaimer on the vrbo site but $600 from a possible maximum of $345 that is advertised is a BIG difference. Maybe you should raise the advertised cost per night on the site?

Loved this place and would definitely recommend it to others and possibly stay there again."

  • Wonderful place!

"My daughter arranged for a 3 night stay - Mom & Daughter vacation! The house is nicely decorated with interesting and fun western art. The owner is EXTREMELY thoughtful of her guests - she knew we were hikers and left lots of trail maps, left us fresh eggs, and the house has: bbq, washer/dryer, cooking, movies. My daughter slept on the futon and it was comfy. You will want to get your groceries when you are in town. There isn't a stove but we used the BBQ and the plug in burner for dinner & breakfast. The steam train was great - we splurged on the first class seats and it was amazing. We saw elk, tons of deer, and antelope from the train. There were many deer - be careful driving at night. There are lots of fish in the local rivers. The house is conveniently located to some beautiful hiking and scenery. Check out Tierra Wools to see weaving, dying, and beautiful tapestries - hand dyed wool yarn - beautiful. And a final note - the owner was helpful, professional with the financial transactions, thoughtful about her guests. She is a gracious host. She gives you complete privacy - and we felt completely comfortable staying at her guest house."

  • The perfect Santa Fe experience!

"I am a picky traveler and a VRBO junkie (I use it pretty much everywhere we go). Let me say that the Artist Retreat House has it all! The house (condo) itself is beautifully designed (both architecture and interior spaces). It has the feeling of an artist's loft (if the artist had enough money to furnish it nicely). It is open and light-filled. The two upstairs bedrooms are spacious and the extra bedroom/apartment is perfect for those guests wanting a little privacy (or if you want a little privacy from them). The steam shower in the master bedroom upstairs was an unexpected treat - not the sort of thing you'd expect from any rental home. But then again, this doesn't feel at all like a rental. Sandra and Justin are consummate hosts. They have done all the research on the area and the greater surrounds and have compiled it into the perfect guidebook. I've been to Santa Fe before, but didn't know about "Tent Rocks" park for hiking. Sandra and Justin said it was a "do not miss" place. They were absolutely right - it was the highlight of the trip! Incredible beauty. Their restaurant recommendations - spot on. We checked them against Yelp and also with friends who have been to Santa Fe several times. We ended up making reservations at several of their favorite places and the food was fantastic. Often VRBO titles use the word "retreat", but this house really is a retreat. It is an easy walk to the historic plaza, but each day we found ourselves looking forward to getting back to our retreat for a glass of wine and a little chill time. It was a wonderful hang-out place. Thank you Sandra and Justin for an absolutely wonderful experience! People like you are the reason I keep coming back to VRBO again and again!"

  • Wonderful

"Beautiful property. Stayed over spring break with our 2 kids and my parents joined us for 2 nights. Property is beautiful, very clean and comfortable with plenty of room. Great kitchen and really well stocked (which is not often the case with rental properties). Nice outdoor area with hot tub. Kids and husband went skiing each day - easy drive to mountain. I'm not a skier, so I enjoyed exploring Taos. We had such a great time, we decided to extend our stay by an extra night."
