  • Perfect lodging in the perfect spot

"Tushita's Upper Canyon Studio turned out to be perfect for our week and a half visit to Santa Fe this summer. I'll list some of the many positive attributes. The location is quiet and private. Close to galleries, small parks, and about a 20 minute walk to the plaza. The many pictures on this site don't mislead with regard to the unique and pleasing aesthetic feel. A pleasant courtyard with chairs and table allow you to enjoy outdoor dining or relaxing. Again completely private. The casita seems new, it's pristine, and well equipped. Tushita is very efficient and handles this rental in a professional manner. She is also very helpful and provides an excellent dining and activity guide. The property is very reasonably priced. It's at the top of our list for our next visit."

  • Outstanding Casita

"If anyone is looking for the absolutely perfect vacation spot in Albuquerque, look no further than this gorgeous casita. The location is central to everything and is stocked with EVERYTHING you could possibly need for your stay. However, the best thing about this casita is the owners themselves. They go out of their way to make you feel at home and are an invaluable source of local information and restaurant recommendations. Thanks again Jill and Marty for everything and we can't wait to come back in May."

  • Awesome home in Lincoln Forest National Park!

"We absolutely loved staying at this conveniently located to shopping, casinos and site seeing. It is a very spacious home and is located in Lincoln National Forest. The vicinity is gorgeous. Deer came up to us and seemed practically tame. The décor is rustic and inviting. The hot tub was large enough for 5 and was a perfect end to our busy day of competition cooking. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking meals. We LOVED this home and plan to stay again next year."

Red River Travel Tips

Red River Vacation Rentals in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains

Red River, in Taos County, New Mexico, is a resort town in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Conveniently located for Albuquerque International Airport, the area of Red River in New Mexico is also situated within easy access of major roads, such as Interstate 25 and US Highway 38. It is just a three-hour drive from Albuquerque; it can also be reached by rail on the New Mexico Rail Runner. This mountainous area is an old mining area where gold, silver and copper mines were the focus. With hot summers and warm winters, Red River lodging is popular all year-round.

Red River Vacation Houses with Movies on the Lawn

From its origins as a gold area, visitors now come for the outdoor activities, relaxed atmosphere and history surrounding Red River vacation rentals. In the town of Red River, there are five buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Little Red School House Museum, several early period cabins and Pierce Fuller House. The Red River Community House has family entertainment throughout the summer and there are a variety of free events such as Movies on the Lawn, and events aimed at teenagers and young adults. There are also arts and crafts activities which make a great family fun day.

The variety of hiking trails in the area range from short and easy to long and difficult. The Red River Nature Trail at Brandenburg Park takes hikers across the covered bridge and is a great one for families. Along the trail are markers providing history and information about the local wildlife. The moderate Middle Fork takes visitors to the lake. The old Pioneer Trail takes the road originally built by miners in the 19th century. Along this trail, visitors can explore old mines and view the historic buildings. Longer, overnight and more difficult hikes are well worth the effort with many ending at one of the lakes in the area where hikers can fish or enjoy a cooling swim. Other activities near here include rafting, tubing, rock climbing, tennis and miniature golf. The wilderness area of Carson National Forest is over 86,000 acres where visitors are welcome only on foot or horseback. Here, visitors can explore Cruces Basin, Columbine-Hondo, Latir Peak, Pecos and Wheeler Peak. The park is home to a variety of wildlife including antelope, black bear, bighorn sheep, elk, mule deer and mountain lions. Among the 400 miles of clear mountain streams and lakes, visitors can fish for trout and other fish. Responsible off road drivers are welcome along a variety of "Jeeping" trails. Areas of particular interest are Cabresto Canyon and Lake Road, 4th of July Canyon, Garrapata Ridge, Goose Lake, Mallette Canyon, Old Red River Pass, and Trail Canyon. There are also many opportunities for fishing, horseback riding, hunting, mountain tours and rafting trips.

A Vacation Home with the Slopes on Your Doorstep

Red River vacation houses in winter put the slopes on your doorstep, literally. With three terrain parks accommodating any level of experience, these parks are ideal for skiing and snowboarding. Beginners should start on Pot O' Gold Terrain Park on Gold Rush Hill. More experienced skiers and snowboarders will try Bobcat Terrain Park or Hollywood Terrain Park. There are also opportunities for cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and sledding.

Red River Lodging Can Be Your Home away from Home

Red River vacation houses come packed with the necessities for a great home and have extras such as full laundry facilities, wifi internet access, hot tubs and cozy fireplaces for cold winter evenings. These homes range from town houses in the heart of Red River or further out to the beautiful rural areas surrounding it. Each is unique but all come with a warm welcome.
