  • Great for a Ski Trip

"We stayed at Coyote Cabin as part of a 3-day ski trip to Ski Apache. Our traveling group was 2 couples and a very well-behaved dog. We found the cabin to be great for our needs. The location was perfect, and allowed us good access to the mountain, while only a few minutes from the downtown area of Ruidoso. The kitchen allowed us to cook our own meals when we felt like staying in after a tough day on the slopes. The 4 of us fit very comfortably in the cabin's 2 bedrooms. The only drawback was that we were disappointed with the fireplace, as it was a small electric appliance and not the roaring fire we had imagined. There was a great outside area with grill and seating for outside eating, but we weren't able to take advantage of due to the chilly evening temperatures. Next time! I recommend Coyote Cabin for a couple, a "double date", or a family of 3-4. The customer service answered every question we had, and we really enjoyed our stay."

  • We loved this house!

"This house has everything you want in a house/cabin. The pictures do not do it justice. My husband and I and 2 other couples stayed here for a week. We each had how own bath/bedroom. My husband and I got this master bedroom on this trip and we loved it. I would love to buy a place just like this decorations and everything. We had deer, elk, birds and raccoons in the back yard. We bought deer food and they came up in the back every night. You could go right up to the animals and they were not afraid of you even the birds! I can't believe that no one has reviewed this beautiful property, maybe they just don't want to share it. (note to the owners we left our comments in the guest book and we have mutual friends!) Also, you did a great job with the place. I love the knotty pine on the walls and ceilings. Loved the wood burning stove. Easy to use and lovely. We ate in several nights and used the grill to cook steaks. Lots of good places to eat though, my favorite was Jorges. We are from Austin and this was our kind of Mexican food. Take a day trip to Cloud Croft if you have time. It is a great place. We were there for Octoberfest in Ruidoso and that was a lot of fun. I'm ready to move!"

  • Y & J

"We have been to Ruidoso several times before, but this property is a find and just simply awesome! As someone stated in the earlier reviews, the moment we walked in the door, we really fell in love. The pictures don't even do justice! You can tell the owners consider this house a home which is lovingly cared for. Very clean and great for our family of four. Everything was well thought through and decorated so nicely. Loved the type of wood that was chosen, the decks/porches, the location, the views, the wildlife, the entertainment for kids, really everything. The only thing that was a little disappointing, but not surprising as changes had to be made when certain renters just don't care of things which are not theirs, is that a washer/dryer wasn't available for use. Having stayed there for 5 nights, it was fine, but if we wanted to stay longer, we would have to go to a laundry mat which is not appealing and takes away time. We definitely want to go back. We had an amazing Christmas in the Upper Canyon! Thanks to the Owners!"

Things to Do at Ruidoso Lodging

The nearby Ski Apache Resort has 55 trails and 11 ski lifts. The resort caters to all levels of skiers from novice to advanced and even has special introductory offers from time to time on ski classes. The many ski lifts mean that you seldom have to line up to get up on the slopes and the miles of well groomed ski runs mean that you can enjoy a full day's worth of skiing. The high elevation of the resort ensures good annual snowfalls and snow-making machines ensure that an adequate depth is maintained. The resort also has seven restaurants and numerous cafeterias and snack bars where you have a lunch break without having to leave the resort.

The Mountain Gods Resort and Casino offers Vegas-style gambling as well as great entertainment. Big name concerts are regularly featured and patrons can try their luck at one of the many gaming tables or slot machines. The Ruidoso Race track is a popular meeting place for the locals. Watch the jockeys race across the finish line and cheer on your horse before collecting your winnings if you've placed an accurate bet.

The outdoors is one of Ruidoso's great attractions. In the summertime, the endless mountain trails provide great hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Pack a few sandwiches and head out to the hills. Take along your camera and binoculars as you're quite likely to spot wildlife and birds along the trails. Horseback rides can also be arranged from one of the many nearby ranches. The long warm summer days are perfect for exploring and you might even decide to spend a night or two camping out and enjoying the starry skies.
