  • Wonderful!

"We would highly recommend this house. We stayed for 5 nights over Spring Break with our 2 daughters, ages 9 and 11. Our family of four was very comfortable in the 2 bedrooms. The girls slept in the upstairs bedroom and we had the downstairs. We cooked breakfast each day and made a big dinner one night, and found the kitchen to be well equipped. Everything about the house is great, very clean, tastefully decorated. The owner greeted us and made sure we were comfortable and answered all of our questions about the area. The location is perfect, just a couple blocks off of the plaza, near great restaurants, shops and museums. We skied at Ski Santa Fe, 15 miles out of town, one day. Made the drive to Chimayo, Taos and Bandelier another day. The rest of the time was spent exploring the plaza on foot, taking a guided walking tour, trying out the local cuisine and going through the museums. We would love to come back!"

  • Warm, beautifully decorated, fully equipped, spectacular location

"I'd been on a road trip for 2 1/2 months, staying at various VRBO and Airbnb homes all across the country, and this home was the VERY BEST place I stayed! Chris was so easy to communicate with. The home had everything we needed for our week long stay. Chris had many tips about what sites to visit during our trip. My two dogs were welcomed and there are great walks nearby that are dog friendly. The beds and linens are very comfortable, the home is quiet, and there are beautiful fireplaces for those chilly evenings. This is clearly a well loved home that the hosts regularly use themselves, which makes it a privilege to stay there. Thank you, Chris!"

  • I wish I could live here!

"I can only echo the great reviews posted here. Casa Simpatica has an aesthetic of charm, ease, and light. The art is beautiful, playful, and well-chosen. The courtyard offers privacy with a sense of space and calm, yet you can walk over to the Plaza or be on Canyon Road in just a couple of minutes. Our family of five, parents from Boston and three adults in their twenties from East Coast, West Coast, and Texas, has been coming to New Mexico for vacation and work at Ghost Ranch since 1992 and love to see our local friends. The house is great for entertaining. We hosted games and lunches and served a casual buffet before heading up to Canyon Road on Christmas Eve. The kitchen is fabulous, stocked with equipment and well-designed. Sleeping was excellent, great mattresses. We had one on the sofa bed---he was quite comfortable. We loved the gas fireplace and the warmth during the snowy week. So nice to have a parking space! I will treasure the memory of Casa Simpatica, a place to feel at home, if home were only so uncluttered and situated in the heart of the Land of Enchantment. Caroline is a wonderful host. The basket that greeted us delighted all week. A beautiful poinsettia and orchid arrangement provided a focus for our holiday celebration. Thanks from our whole family!"

  • Fabulous Stay

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: After selecting and reserving this home, I drove by while on a business trip and winced at the steep driveway and the distance from the plaza. I almost cancelled. I am so glad I didn't!! The house itself won't be everyone's cup of tea - it does appear to be primarily real adobe - a beautiful material made from mud and straw - and is a little funky in the detailing - light switches and plugs are wedged into the walls, surface plastering is sometimes broken in predictable places on window ledges and at the base of walls and in the kitchen the raw adobe with straw is visible. Cabinets in the kitchen and bath are not modern but very clean and functional. The showers were good and there was plenty of hot water. We loved the house! It was comfortable and welcoming for our family of 5 with good beds and couches. We walked to the plaza and up to St. John's College, but we are big walkers. The kitchen had everything and more than we needed. The house was spotless, the dishwasher set up to run (with soap in place), the coffee maker had filters in it, the heat and lights were on when we arrived. The fireplace was fabulous and there was plenty of wood. The management company was very easy to work with. They allowed me to shift my reservation and assured me that the driveway was being repaired. It was. It would be a delightful place in the summer and was warm and cozy in the winter. I was glad we stayed here and glad we were on the hill above the city with great views - we ended up not spending as much time around the plaza as expected and that was just fine. The Teahouse restaurant is less than a half mile away and open 9 to 9 - a great neighborhood amenity."
