Nicely appointed room located close to attractions
"This home is well appointed, with beautiful living spaces to gather or be alone. All four bedrooms are quite comfortable, and none of us had to sleep on a twin bed - that was important to us. Three restrooms were ample for eight of us, and we had everything we needed in all living spaces (kitchen has some appliances I would love to have at home). Be advised, there is no central air in this house. The coolers available up and downstairs were ample to keep the house cool during the mid-eighty days we experienced in June, but I recommend you open all windows and doors at night to allow the cool mountain air into the home. We did nightly, and the coolers did not have to work as hard to keep the house cool during the day.
Our group of eight adults spent most of our time outdoors on the patio, which was actually the largest outdoor space. Several chairs and an ample table allowed us all to gorge on Pico de Gallo and chips as well as a cool beverage each evening. We cooked primarily on the outdoor grill, but the kitchen - with its breathtaking view of the mountains - provides a very nice stove and oven as well. We ate either at the large dining room table or outside on the patio. We did take advantage of the hot tub one evening while there, and it was quite invigorating after a long day hiking Bandelier National Monument.
For those not familiar with this location, the house is within minutes of the Plaza, several casinos, and only an hour from Bandelier, all of which you should not miss. Get a good map of Santa Fe, and plan to park in one of the many parking garages near the Plaza. Walking the Plaza is mild for most, and there are lots of shady places to sit and people watch if you get tired.
While the Plaza is south of this beautiful home, Bandelier and the casinos are north. Our casino of choice - Buffalo Thunder - is less than a 15 minute drive from the house. We discovered it on our way to Bandelier, and returned for a couple of hours of fun. The group won more than they lost at this casino, while we were not so lucky at others. Don't waste your money in the casino bar and grill; take the opportunity to eat at really good restaurants either on the Plaza, or a local favorite such as the Pantry Restaurant (1820 Cerrillos Rd). Yum!
If you are on the fence about this home, I encourage you to take a chance. The caretaker is responsive to your needs, and the home is comfortable and well situated to many unique places to visit near Santa Fe."

"I have been to Santa Fe many times over the years but never have stayed outside of town. I wanted my friends who have never been to Santa Fe before to have a nice relaxing long weekend with a view of the beautiful mountains that surround the city ,so I chose this charming house as our girls get away. There were 4 of us and we all loved it. The house is cozy and relaxing. The patio perfect for breakfast and dinner in. The kitchen had everything we needed. We also loved walking around through the hills. We built fires in the fireplace at night because even at the end of May it was chilly while we were there. So I highly recommend it. It made our visit so enjoyable."

Great place tucked into the backstreets of Santa Fe
The property manager was very helpful.
The vacation rental was spotless.
I was more than happy with the location.
I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
Pros: Clean, good decor, great amenities, good location. Cons: Parking is at the end of long alley, which was difficult since I had an SUV."

"Casa Soulfood worked very well for our stay. We rented both the house and the casita so there was plenty of room for our group. The kitchen is roomy and well equipped. One very large room at the center of the house comprises the living, dining and kitchen areas; plenty of room to hang out together. The bedrooms are separate and private. The bathrooms all have lovely slate tiles. The 1st floor bath is small and has a shower only; the other 3 baths are larger and have whirlpool tubs. There is a spacious patio as well as several decks to enjoy the views. We sat outside at night and enjoyed a fire while listening to the coyotes howl.
The heat was difficult to maintain on the first floor. The floor is concrete so it's cold. The 1st floor bedrooms were cold and the master was hot. A fire in the kiva helped heat the living room.
The house was clean, but the casita has an ant problem. The kitchen especially needs some maintenance. Some appliances didn't work properly, drawers are broken, etc.
There are 12 steps to get into the house; the driveway and surrounding area are unpaved and rocky. Not for people who have difficulty walking.
Overall, a very pleasant and comfortable accommodation for a large group."
