  • So many things to like

"We enjoyed our stay of just over 1 month in Taos. Longer stays reflect different challenges but first with the exciting part. Privacy (at the end of the road) was very nice. The landscaping fit the area and there is plenty of room to get outside. We entertained some and had a wonderful time. The house was spacious and fit our needs quite nicely. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The casa is at the end of a one mile dirt/gravel road so you will usually have some dust on your car. The dishwasher is located so that the door does not open all of the way so it is necessary to work through a partially opened door. The standup shower was a little small for me (6'3" 210#) but we made it work. The hot tub is behind the house so exiting, drying off in the cool new mexico air and then making the journey around the house was cold to me. A hot tub placed near the door seems more logical. The outside photos posted on this property when we rented it were from a neighbor property owned by the same people and not the view from this casa. Most of the "shopping" in Taos is located south of the down town square so it is necessary to deal with the "town square traffic jam" on each trip. Overall we had a wonderful time and were very satisfied with the accommodations. This lovely casa is on our favorites list as we plan to return again soon."

  • romance and relaxation

"We were lucky enough to have our first married VAlentines weekend, and first trip to Taos, in this magical place. It was so much more than we could have ever expected!!! The house and property are amazing, so many places to explore and check out- you could easily stay here with several people and enjoy to common areas, while all having your own place to sleep and have privacy. The treehouse made for the best nap ever, the birds are so unique and beautiful- their chirping was so serene among the trees. We were there for snowboarding, and had a quick trip to the mountain. After we relaxed our tired muscles in the hot tub under the stars, even saw a shooting star. In the morning we sat with coffee by the fire or in the hot tub, it was just amazing. There are not enough words to describe the hospitality, beauty, and serenity we experienced this weekend. We will definitely be back!!!!"

"My teenage son, ex-husband, dogs and I spent two weeks at Dos Caminos and its neighboring property, the Casita, over the recent Christmas/New Year's holidays, and it was the perfect spot for all of us. Teenage son was happy with the wifi access, satellite channels, proximity to the ski area, and big comfy chair into which he sank every evening after skiing. Ex-husband was happy with the fact that he had his "own" place separate from his ex-wife, but close enough to enjoy family times. (Ex-wife was equally happy with this). Both exes agreed that the views, the quiet location, the kiva fireplaces, the variety of birds at the birdfeeder that provided quiet entertainment, and the warmth and coziness of both the "main" house and the slightly-smaller casita made our family holiday nothing short of idyllic. The dogs agreed that this is their favorite vacation spot in the whole world. Plenty of outside room for running and plenty of warm places for sunning made them happy doggies, indeed. We will be back, again and again, to experience Dos Caminos and the Casita in all four seasons. We would have stayed forever if we could have!"

  • Beautiful Stay

"This was my second time (in just a few short months) at Casa de Luz. Sharon, the owner, provided a wonderful experience from the time I inquired about the vacation rental through my entire stay. She is warm, friendly and so helpful. The house is a perfect home base and has a special feeling from the moment you enter (you will learn about the concept of Hozho from the guest binder!). The house is super cute and has everything we could want was there for us to use. We cooked almost every meal for four days and found every dish and pan we needed. We enjoyed the satellite TV and whole-house sound system. The bedrooms are cozy places for relaxing and the bathrooms are decorated with Talavera tiles as a consistent reminder of "place" and are well-appointed (complete with shampoo, conditioner and body wash, and plenty of towels). The house was so clean and there was a little treat around every corner - literally - Hershey Kisses! Both in September and during this January trip, we made good use of the hot tub (located under an awning away from the intense sun). The fenced-in yards provide privacy and a sense of peace. During the summer, hummingbirds and other songbirds buzz around the yards. And not to disappoint, magpies and other birds kept us well entertained during our winter visit. At night, the sky is dark and the stars are aplenty - keep your eye out for the Milky Way! The house is located just outside Taos - the perfect distance away from town yet close enough to run into town for groceries, restaurants and sightseeing in the area. There is no shortage of things to see in the Taos area. And, Sharon provided a thorough and extremely helpful document about restaurants, sightseeing and shopping around Taos. She's amazing! I cannot think of any downsides to staying at Casa de Luz. It feels like a home away from home. I will be back!"
