  • Great Place

"A perfect little house for your Taos getaway. It's well-appointed, very clean, and on a quiet street at the edge of town, but only a five minute walk to the plaza. The kiva fireplace makes the patio a warm night spot, and the kitchen is equipped to the max. We'll be back."

  • Lamy revisited

"Three weeks in Lamy in 2010 were enough to knock off my feet for several months. That’s how long it took, to get 'back on the ground again, once we were back in Amsterdam. And even after four years, there still was this yearning to go back to Lamy, so we (my wife and I) decided to act upon that and returned to Lamy to see if this truly is the magical spot on the Northern hemisphere I hold it for. We drove from Chicago to Lamy. Seeing the sign ‘Welcome to New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment’ made my heart jump with joy. The arrival at Lamy was remarkable. It was quiet. As quiet as Lamy can be during 23 hours a day. But when we entered the guesthouse it was like we left it only the other day. It was like the house welcomed us, and not only the house, we had a heartwarming reunion with the extended Zunkel family and friends. It truly felt like coming ‘home’ again. We spend two weeks in Lamy. What can I say? The house is wonderful in every aspect. We enjoyed every minute there, especially when we build a fire (temperatures dropped suddenly) and had long nights of reading at the fireplace; Lamy is the charming sublime nothingness itself; The Romanelli-Zunkel family and Silvie demonstrated great hostmanship and made us feel like being part of the family. Often, going back to a place that made an impression, is a bit disappointing. Following our hearts and revisiting Lamy turned out to be the best thing we could have done. After this second ‘Lamy experience’ we can truly say that Lamy is a unique and magical spot on this earth. So is the house. So are the people."

  • Great unit

"Over the past decade I've rented 4 units in this complex & all of them were nice, but this unit is frankly the nicest. Many units have sliding plywood doors for the bedrooms, the sturdy panel doors in this unit are just one of many upscale amenities included (ceramic cooktop, excellent linens, etc.). The three tier rock garden would be a big plus for canine travelers. The rental agent is friendly & attentive. Great food & activities guide included (do yourself a favor & treat yourself to the $19. 3-course Sunday dinner at 'Dinner for 2'). Highly recommended"

  • Wild Rumpus Wedding

"For our wedding we had some specifics we were looking for in a place; one that allowed camping, didn’t have restrictive quiet hours and a place that would allow dogs on the premises. When we first got engaged we visited the PPR and instantly loved it and Bruce the caretaker. When we finally decided to have it locally and not closer to family for our ease, Glen the owner was very easy to work with and was always available when we had questions or if we wanted to visit the site to get ideas and take measurements. Bruce takes amazing care of the property and you can tell that Glen and Bruce have great respect for each other and property. It was great to learn of the innovative restorations projects Bruce does on the property and hear about support he gets from Glen to try new things. One of the coolest factors of the PPR is the type of cliental that comes to stay. We are active in the local conservation circles and it’s great to hear about all the biologists, astronomers, archeologists and entomologists that come stay and do research on the property. It’s one of the many reasons why we felt a connection to this place. We rented the PPR for four nights over a long weekend. Bruce was very helpful and has a great wedding resource page on the website. We had a mix of family and friends stay in the buildings, rented out the event center down the road, and let anyone else who felt like camping pitch a tent. If folks were looking for their own places to stay, there are plenty of website resources and Bruce was always helpful for folks finding other places. Our wedding was basically a 4 day extravaganza of games, pool time, potlucks, and socializing. We had an afternoon wedding in the courtyard, did the reception in the hanger and had a themed dance party in the latter part of the evening till the early hours of the morning. We rarely left the property but we encouraged folks to visit the local area and some of those trips were to visit Cave Creek, Portal, Bisbee, and the Chiricahua Natural History Museum. A fair warning, all your guests will love Bruce… definitely one of the more popular people at the wedding. Everyone was interested in his knowledge of the local area. All in all, we love PPR, and I think we sold friends and family for group holidays or other group gatherings. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a fun place to hang out."
