  • Happy Happy Happy!

"We are only a small family of 3, but this place sleeps 8! The loft was perfect for our teenager to get away from mom & dad and have her own space. The place is not huge, but it is absolutely comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need to make to make hot meals (you provide your own groceries). It is on the 3rd floor which made watching the snow fall a bit more magical. We had a fabulous time - it was great to come back to a place where you could actually feel comfortable, warm & cozy and just RELAX!"

  • The most restful vacation I've ever had

"This home was everything it was billed to be and then some. It's VERY secluded in fact that we drove past the cutoff for it two or three times before we found it. However, once there, it gave us everything we wanted...quiet, spectacular views, nature, room for the dog to run, interesting surroundings to explore, and all the creature comforts of home. We took small side trips every day into Silver City, Pinos Altos and different parts of the Gila Wilderness area. Silver City offered food, art, crafts and all the other amenities that make a vacation fun. The wilderness area also offered us plenty of opportunities to hike with the dog. We went there with no schedule; woke up when we pleased, napped when we pleased, ate when we pleased, and two weeks later left limp as noodles. It was like a massage for the soul. The house itself was meticulously designed to blend into the environment. It's carved right into the mountain; about a third of it is underground. When we went (in late August) the afternoon temps can get quite warm, but the house never became oppressively hot thanks to quilted, thermal shades that kept the direct sun out and the living quarters comfortably cool with fans. Four decks surround the house, so you can eat outside in shade any time of the day. However, warning: bring some bug spray. July and August are the rainy season and when we were there, there was no shortage of mosquitoes. The home is exceptionally quiet and comfortable. The owner had quite a library about local history and I think my wife read every book during the two weeks we were there. I would go back again in a heartbeat and recommend this home to anyone healthy enough to hike in the surrounding area. The elevation of the house is at 6800 feet so the air is quite thin. The terrain is also very rugged – there are lots of steep trails in the surrounding national forest. All in all, it was a great stay. We left with many fond memories."

  • Amazing Albuquerque experience!

"We enjoyed our stay in Albuquerque while our daughter danced at a nearby dance studio! The location of Casa Sandia was perfect for us..close to the Sandia Tramway and casino, historic Old Town, rt. 66, shopping malls, and a rather short drive to Santa Fe. This home has a perfect layout and is so spacious! I just love the kitchen/dining/living area which extends out to the beautiful patio. The southwestern decor is seen throughout this lovely home from the tiled floors to the gorgeous vases and knick knacks. I loved waking up to the gorgeous view of the Sandia mountains out the master bedroom's sliding glass doors and enjoyed having drinks on the balconies in the evening! I'm already looking forward to next summer when I can hopefully have the pleasure of staying at the impeccable Casa Sandia again!"
