  • it was a great house and a great stay

"We stayed at this house on a recent ski trip with a group of friends. The house was much bigger than we expected and even nicer than it looked in the pictures. The rooms were big and the decor was perfect. Some of us had small children, so it was nice to have the two big bedrooms in the upper level and the huge master on the middle floor. There were even toys to keep them occupied. Nice hot tub and foosball table were also pluses. It was close to the shops, restaurants, and the shuttle to the ski slopes. The kitchen was well equipped. The only downside was there were two living rooms, so not quite as good as just one for a group that wanted to hang out together. I also didn't like that the dishwasher had to be done and emptied before we left. I have never had that requirement before and seems like putting them in and hitting start should have been enough, especially if we had wanted to hit the slopes early and leave. Had we not had young kids and had some people staying in the house during the day I imagine I wouldn't have been happy to wait for the cycle. However, the checkout was midnight which was a huge plus. The owner was easy to deal with and returned our deposit promptly."

  • Lovely accomodations for a ski weekend

"This lovely Chalet home was the perfect place for my families yearly ski trip accommodating 8 adults and a baby with room to spare. We bring a lot of food, games, equipment, and personal gear yet everyone could nestle in their rooms well. The kitchen was well equipped with the big pots and bowls I needed to feed the crew and even had 2 cheese graters. I usually pack one but forgot this time! It was a short distance to load the van to go skiing and the extra stove burner made it a very toasty place in the negative /single digit temps! We had lots of room for board games and lounging, plenty of hot water for showers, a large selection of linens, and good cellular phone service. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well. The caretaker Lilt was great and he came over when we arrived to explain anything we asked about the house. It was also a easy place to find, even in the dark. We were all happy we stayed in this lovely Chalet."

"We stayed for three days. On arrival every thing was in order and as shown in the photographs and as discribed. We were 15 people with 2 seniors, 6 adults and 7 children. The house is 5 miniutes walk from lake mirror and the shopping area. We all enjoyed our stay and would like to visit again."

  • Perfect Long Weekend Get Away from Brooklyn

"My wife and I took my parents up to Black Brook Lodge for a three-day weekend and we all loved it. The house is comfortable and low key but also features an amazing kitchen with first-rate appliances, cutlery, silverware, etc. It's a perfect combination of luxury and rustic. The house is near to excellent hikes and walks and the only sound you can hear is the nearby Saranac River, but you're also close to Lake Placid and Plattsburgh in case you want to see a film or shop or go out to eat (there's also ping pong, an excellent DVD collection, and a good library for indoor distractions). The property has extensive frontage on the Saranac River, with a number of excellent fishing spots within walking distance from the house. There are more fishing spots within a short drive, and it's 20 minutes to the Ausable River, which is one of the great trout streams in America. There's something for everyone and I can't recommend it highly enough."
