"Thank you Barb and Doug for sharing your lovely home with my family; you were the perfect hosts!! We stayed over the July 4th holiday and the experience couldn't have been more pleasant. The home was just as listed; very clean and well maintained. They made sure we arrived safely and we were even greeted with a handwritten welcome note and bottle of wine!! This home is located within walking distance to everything; shops, restaurants and the lake!! We had a wonderful time walking through the shops, having coffee at Ozzie's Coffee Bar and the scenic chairlift views at McCauley Mountain were beautiful. The Prime Rib at Red Dog Tavern is worth the short drive to Inlet but get there early! Thank you again Doug and Barb for making our first stay in Old Forge so pleasant."Guest: Angela Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 28, 2014View listing
"This house is FAR more luxurious and more beautiful than the pics in the listing! I was overly shocked when we arrived and toured...It is HUGE, tastefully and perfectly appointed! We were overly impressed by every single aspect of it!! The layout of the house is perfect! The mudroom was great to tuck away all the "stuff" that gets in your way when in vacation with many people. The master bedrooms are FAB! The view of the lake could not be any better! We often stay in the 3 br suites at the Whiteface Lodge (which is awesome too) but this house is every bit as fantastic and beautifully redone! I would almost guess that the builder also built the WF lodge!! You could easily come and spend a long weekend with 3 families & have plenty of room...not sure the walk downtown is close enough in the winter for little kids in tow. We came with 10 girls to celebrate 40thbirthdays! It was the perfect retreat! Spa treatments at ML Inn, drinks on the deck, chats by the fireplace, and a great nights sleep without our kids! Bravo to the owners who have done such a wonderful job on their lake house!! I cannot think of a detail missed! None of us wanted to leave!!"Guest: WE R 40! "Lovely rustic winterized cabin in a beautiful location. It was very nicely set up with a great and well-equipped kitchen, wonderful stone fireplace, and exceptional scenic views all round. The place had evidently been closed up for stretches and there were issues with mold and mildew that troubled those in our party with allergies. There was also evidence of mice on the kitchen counter and in the bathroom but the problem was not significant and also not surprising given the location and age of the structure. The amazing setting and terrific amenities more than made up for these issues, however. It was not only a great jumping-off point for our adventures, but a great place to hang out as well. We would stay there again."Guest: blab Date of Stay: November 2014 Review Submitted: November 24, 2014View listing
"Perfect rental for family reunion. Mom and four of her children and a couple spouses and a few young adult grandsons had a wonderful Columbus Day weekend. The five bedrooms each with its own very large bath were great for a group that hadn't spent this much time together in forty years. Madeleine was great with all our before and during questions. Great location in the middle of town with plenty of parking. The house had everything. We loved the huge porch where we could watch leaves, mountains, lake and people, and periodically move inside near the great fireplace. Awesome owners, awesome house, awesome location, awesome weekend, awesome memories."Guest: Mike N. Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 25, 2014View listing
Au Sable Forks Travel Tips
Travel to Your Outdoor Paradise with Au Sable Forks Vacation Rentals
Au Sable Forks, located in the stunning Adirondack Mountains, is a secluded little spot—perfect for an outdoor vacation where you want to be surrounded by nature, and not a gaggle of other tourists. Skip the crowded hotel and enjoy your Au Sable Forks lodging free of strangers who are watching TV in the next room over. You could stay in your own private cabin surrounded by the peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. You can enjoy the outdoors as much from your secluded cabin as you can during your daytime activities.
Activities for the Novice and the Expert
Adirondack Mountains cabins are so popular because the area provides outdoor recreation both for the novice and for the expert. Perhaps you like the thrill and danger of extreme ice climbing in the winter or whitewater kayaking. Both these activities are popular in the Adirondack Mountains. Perhaps you simply want to get close to nature. Rent a kayak or canoe and paddle out onto one of the nearby lakes or take a short hike through the beautiful woods.
Au Sable Forks vacation rentals will place you close to Lake Placid, a popular destination for many reasons. The serene waters are surrounded by gorgeous forested country. Hunting and fishing are allowed in the area, but there are often tight restrictions. However, these restrictions are responsible for the highly stocked streams and lakes, and the abundance of wild game in the area.
Relax in the Privacy of Your Backyard
Au Sable Forks lodging will provide you with peace and privacy, along with the room to enjoy it. Bring a pair of binoculars and bird watch from your back porch or backyard. There are many different kinds of birds that frequent the Adirondack Mountains, and you can see many of them from your cabin. Watch the sunrise or sunset, prepare a fresh meal in your kitchen, and get back to nature in a truly authentic way.
