  • Quintessential Lake Placid Home in Heart of Town

"I booked this home for a birthday-bachelorette weekend with 6 girlfriends this February and we were all blown away by this immaculate, spectacular, beautiful home. Each room is outfitted with a giant bathroom, the kitchen is outfitted with everything you would need to make a meal, the living room is cozy and features a spectacular view of the town, Mirror Lake and main street. The one-minute walk to town to experience the wonderful bars, shops, restaurants and activies that line the main street could not have been easier. And Madeleine, the owner, was, at all times, incredibly friendly, always fair, super quick to respond, answer all questions, and straightforward. It was one of the best weekend getaways of all time and I would recommend Madeleine and this house to everyone looking to make the trip to Lake Placid. I will definitely be booking here again! It's a very special place! Katie B."

  • Perfect family accommodations

"We rented the cabin the week after Christmas for a ski vacation with our 3 teenage children. It was a perfect home away from home with plenty of sprawl space after long, cold days skiing. The back hallway was great for storing all our gear and we enjoyed some throw down ping pong tournaments in the basement. The cabin was immaculate and the beds very comfortable; the kitchen was roomy, well stocked and easy to prepare meals in. If we ever return to Whiteface we would definitely rent this cabin again."

  • Defines Fine Mountain Living

"What sets Healing Wood apart from other vacation rentals is the attention to detail of the furnishings, décor and setting. The house retains the charm of a bygone era, from the kitchen's cast iron stove to the porcelain wash basins. (There are fully modern appliances, so don't worry about building a fire to heat up the tea kettle!) The well stocked library will keep inquisitive minds occupied for days, all while reading in the warmth of the late afternoon sun streaming through the French doors. It's like walking back in time to your grandparent's home. The home is located a short walk from Upper Saranac lake and within easy drive of the villages of Tupper, Saranac and Placid. Recommend the boat tour on Placid to see the grand camps, including Kate Smith's camp. The Wild Center is a gem in nearby Tupper and aviation buffs can arrange flights out of Adirondack Regional (KSLK) to see the high peaks from up on higher! Hiking the Ampersand trail to the summit provided a view that was worth every rock and foot of elevation gain along the way. A memorable vacation in a special home, we hope to return again to Healing Wood."

  • Wonderful vacation cottage on Willsboro Bay/Lake Champlain

"This was one of the most pleasant vacation cottages I have ever rented. The size is perfect for 2 to 6 people and it is extremely clean and comfortable in every way. The kitchen has everything you need for preparing great meals, the living room is very homey and there is a great view of the lake from almost every room of the cottage. I appreciated having cable TV, internet and good cell phone reception. The bathroom is modern with a wonderful shower and the beds are extremely comfortable. The house is located right on the shore of Willsboro Bay and has an amazing view north into Lake Champlain and a view west so you can see the Metroliner snake through the mountains on its way to Montreal. The dock is great for boating but it's also wonderful for pulling out at chair and reading a good book or just watching the light change over the water. Swimming is excellent here because the bottom is sandy and the water very clear. Also, it's protected because speed boats do not come into the area except to dock. The town of Willsboro is fairly quiet, but very pretty and has a variety of very accessible activities - a lovely 9 hole golf course, well-maintained public tennis courts and nearby hiking. There are two market/gas stations close by with all the necessities and excellent meat counters, so you don't have to go far for groceries. The two close-by marinas have restaurants, so dining out is convenient. Bicycling is perfect along Corlear Drive because it's fairly flat with very little car traffic. The owner was very personable, responsive and very pleasant to work with. What more can I say? I can't wait for next summer!"
