  • One of our favorites

"Our group of 7 couples go away this weekend every year. This was our 24th annual weekend and our third time staying at Pharaoh View Lodge. It's the perfect size with plenty of places to divide up if the group has different interests. This was important as the Saturday of our stay was pouring and we couldn't be outside. There is lots of space, corners and nooks and crannies to play games, have quiet conversation, nap, etc. The Great Room furniture is comfy. We had a fire roaring in the fireplace. Because we cook our own meals, we were happy to have the extra stove and refrigerator on the porch. The kitchen is well equipped and our group rarely finds a table we can all eat at, but there's a perfect one here looking out over the lake. There's a washer/dryer although for two nights, we didn't use. Due to the weather, we did not take out any of the boats on the shoreline...canoe, rowboat, pedal boat, etc. but we did find a sunny couple hours to play volleyball at the court near the lake. It's a very peaceful area. There is a market and Stewart's shop within a few miles. Our dealings with the owner have always been pleasant."

  • perfect location

"This rental property has the perfect location. It's walking distance to everything and allowed us to enjoy the nighttime festivities in th neighborhood. The house was cozy and the owner was a joy to work with. We would definitely rent again."

  • Serenity and soothing silence

"Living in Manhattan it takes a while to get used to the serenity and soothing silence of being in the forest. Just so relaxing. We all had the best time up there. Weather was fantastic. Food in town superb. Best was chilling at the house. We will most certainly return in fall/winter. It's amazing how many stars are visible after dark. It seems impossible there are that many stars in the night sky. It takes your breath away. Wild turkeys in the woods not to mention a very big and pudgy bunny on the front lawn, chipmunks, blue jays, a woodpecker, and many robins too. 5-time guest since 2007"

  • TERRIFIC Home at the Wescotts

"Our son is participating in the developmental Skeleton program at the Olympic bobsled track in Lake Placid, so we have occasion to stay in Lake Placid. This is our first year of having to do this - and it's been quite a bit of back and forth from Pennsylvania. We've found much of Lake Placid to be priced competitive to each other, yet the facilities can be VERY different. The Wescotts, however, is an exceptional property at an exceptional price. Cozy, comfortable, well equipped, organized and just terrific. They have a book in the kitchen that is updated weekly with activities which I just thought was the BOMB! It was a pleasure to flip through the pages!! The only recommendation I would make would be to label the fireplace thermostats. It took us FOREVER to figure that out, esp. since the one on the main floor is in celsius - not fahrenheit. Fine for Canadians but not-so for us not-too-bright Americans. :)) (Nothing like a little self-deprecating humor!) Anyway, thank you for a wonderful stay!!"
