  • Wow, is all I can say

"My friends and I came to wonderful Cedarcrest for a vacation. When we arrived the house looked exactly like the pictures. We entered the huge door and immediately saw the massive stone fireplace and wooden stairwell and floors. This was rustic, clean and well stocked with condiments, dishes, dishwasher, pots and pans etc. There were six of us and each of us helped ourselves to a bedroom, mine being the "Redroom". It is clear the sheets are hung out to dry as they smelled like the outdoors and not like a sheet of "Bounce" The bathtubs are the old fashioned claw type complete with shower. We were looking for something different than the usual and this home, with it's panoramic view was the perfect accommodation for us. The phone service is part of the package and was helpful in booking our hiking, canoeing, and kayaking events. We were able to walk downtown and hike around Mirror Lake (there really is not a monster there like the movie suggests, lol). We were able to wash our clothes which was wonderful as with our hiking etc we got pretty dirty at times and had not brought a lot of clothing with us. We took the liberty of hanging our cloths on the line in an attempt to replicate the outdoor smell. If you want the run of the mill hotel style accommodation, this is not the place for you. If you want something out of the ordinary and live in an different era, with the amenities of home slipped in, this is the vacation home for you and your friends and family. This would be a wonderful location for a family reunion as there is a large back and front yard, as well a very large back porch where one can rock and view the mountains and lake. My friends and I have booked Cedarcrest for two years from now and hope to do so every two years."

  • GORGEOUS RENTAL!!

"This house is FAR more luxurious and more beautiful than the pics in the listing! I was overly shocked when we arrived and toured...It is HUGE, tastefully and perfectly appointed! We were overly impressed by every single aspect of it!! The layout of the house is perfect! The mudroom was great to tuck away all the "stuff" that gets in your way when in vacation with many people. The master bedrooms are FAB! The view of the lake could not be any better! We often stay in the 3 br suites at the Whiteface Lodge (which is awesome too) but this house is every bit as fantastic and beautifully redone! I would almost guess that the builder also built the WF lodge!! You could easily come and spend a long weekend with 3 families & have plenty of room...not sure the walk downtown is close enough in the winter for little kids in tow. We came with 10 girls to celebrate 40thbirthdays! It was the perfect retreat! Spa treatments at ML Inn, drinks on the deck, chats by the fireplace, and a great nights sleep without our kids! Bravo to the owners who have done such a wonderful job on their lake house!! I cannot think of a detail missed! None of us wanted to leave!!"

  • Great location

"The house is lovely - On a very quiet, tree-lined road, just a few minutes walk up above Lake's Placid's main street. The bedrooms are attractive and very comfortable. There is plenty of room to cook and eat but of course all the local cafes and restaurants are just a few minutes' walk away. A great base for exploring the mountains and lakes of the Adirondacks."

  • Large Family? Here's a great place for a reunion!

"We have a big family, so we have a hard time fitting in any one house when we all get together. Sandbrook Duo was the perfect answer to the problem. First of all, the photos reflected reality: the house really IS that beautiful, and there really are that many bedrooms and bathrooms. It's also very clean, and well-maintained. The babbling brook was a bonus, and the parking was spacious enough for our 6 cars, no maneuvering required. Lenny was quick to get back to us when we had questions, both before and during our stay, and the house is a short ride, or a longer walk, from town. The teenagers in our group enjoyed hiking another peak, and when we were all home, there was plenty of room for every age group to do their own thing. Best of all, there were enough chairs in the dining area for everyone to sit down and eat at the same time. (That's never happened before.) We would recommend the house without reservation -- it was a wonderful, relaxing week. Of yes, AND we all had our own bathrooms -- NO waiting for showers! :D"
