  • Bachelor Weekend

"The Descente Lodge ended up being the perfect house for a bachelor weekend in Lake Placid. The number one factor in booking this house was the amount of people it can sleep comfortably. Bunk beds, singles, doubles, queens and a king. There were cots as well that could be used. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of bathrooms/showers as well. The kitchen, dining room, and living room were all very open and had plenty of space. We also made use of the fire place in the living room as well. The yard was great for setting up lawn games, throwing the football, and hanging out outside. There was a nice fire pit to hang out at during the evening/night time as well with a bench and a picnic table. The cab ride into town was quick and easy and only took about 10 minutes. As previous reviewers have stated, the cell phone service was not great but this was the case all over town, and not just at the house. There is a wireless router but the range is not great. However, this did not bother us as we were able to get a connection when standing near it and were not tied to our phones while we were up there. It's nice to get off the grid every now and then. Overall this place suited our needs and was perfect for our long weekend."

  • Serenity and soothing silence

"Living in Manhattan it takes a while to get used to the serenity and soothing silence of being in the forest. Just so relaxing. We all had the best time up there. Weather was fantastic. Food in town superb. Best was chilling at the house. We will most certainly return in fall/winter. It's amazing how many stars are visible after dark. It seems impossible there are that many stars in the night sky. It takes your breath away. Wild turkeys in the woods not to mention a very big and pudgy bunny on the front lawn, chipmunks, blue jays, a woodpecker, and many robins too. 5-time guest since 2007"

  • Amazing Lakefront Escape!!

"Don't know where to start! The house was absolutely immaculate upon arrival, I'm talking clean like we were the first people who ever discovered this place. It was very nice to have everything you could ever need from fresh linens to every kitchen gadget, brand new grill, wifi, washer/dryer, to kayaks, floats, life vests, etc.... This was a very nice escape from the madness that lake George can become but close enough that if you decide to venture out its convenient. Sixflags, Martha's ice cream, and glen falls are all around the corner, but you'll soon realize as we did that there really is no reason to leave! Many nights were spent lakeside by the fire pit watching the stars and lake. Days consisted of kayaking, fishing, swimming on the sandy bottom lake front, and drinking many a cold adult beverage on the lake front lounges! Ospreys have a large nest next door and they are quite the sight to watch grab more fish than me or any of my group could catch on rod and reel! All in all not a single complaint, met owner and she's a doll, super accommodating! Can't wait to return for this new family tradition!"

  • Perfect

"The condo was exactly what we wanted for the weekend in the mountains. Close to lots of great places. Had all the supplies needed, sheets, towels, TP and garbage bags. And the many camping chairs were a great touch."
