  • Enjoyed anothe winter break

"Love the house but would recommend the following: The water pipe freezing issue at the dishwasher is still a major issue. It froze everyday and we ended up buying a hairdryer to deal with it. Second the pots and pans need updating, they are all very old and chipped It would be great if the beds were updated, they are old and hard"

  • Great Location for any event!

"We were looking for a place that would house several families that were in town visiting their children enrolled at Northwood School. This house had an old historic charm that was perfect for our group of 4 families with beds to spare. It was the perfect location to access local restaurants, shopping, and even the Olympic Center! At night we comfortably sat around the spacious dining room table and also enjoyed each other's company in the cozy atmosphere of the living room sitting by a warm, inviting fireplace. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this rental to any group for any event that takes you to Lake Placid!"

  • The Martin/Arnell/Weber Clan

"Thanks Tom for a wonderful third trip to the Homestead. All three generations of our clan thoroughly enjoyed the ammenities. Our 4-year-old has a special place in his heart for "the big house." We would love to stay again next year!"

  • Wonderful family rental, close to village yet private

"This house was a good fit for two families plus grandparents. The common rooms were large enough to accommodate our party of ten if we all wanted to be together, but there was plenty of room for us to spread out when we wanted time apart! The house was just as shown in the pictures. The covered patio and outdoor fire pit are really great features you won't find at other rentals. The location is fantastic if you want to be within walking distance of the village, but still have quiet and privacy. It was ~ five to seven minute walk to the village and Shephard's Park. We needed a stroller for the younger ones in our party (~ 3 years old). The Shephard's Park beach was great for the kids (age 3 - 7). There was no need to go to Million Dollar Beach. We found the beach rules to be very strict relative to what we are used to, and did not spend a lot of time there. Claire was very helpful before and during our vacation. The house felt like a home, and was nicely decorated. We would recommend this property to others. The Prospect Mountain hike (just behind the house) was very nice, but I would not recommend for small children. We really enjoyed Capri's pizza on the strip. We saw the Thursday night fireworks from Neptune's restaurant - great place for the whole family. If you are looking to get out of the village check out the Painted Pony Rodeo - also great for families."
