  • Wonderful family rental, close to village yet private

"This house was a good fit for two families plus grandparents. The common rooms were large enough to accommodate our party of ten if we all wanted to be together, but there was plenty of room for us to spread out when we wanted time apart! The house was just as shown in the pictures. The covered patio and outdoor fire pit are really great features you won't find at other rentals. The location is fantastic if you want to be within walking distance of the village, but still have quiet and privacy. It was ~ five to seven minute walk to the village and Shephard's Park. We needed a stroller for the younger ones in our party (~ 3 years old). The Shephard's Park beach was great for the kids (age 3 - 7). There was no need to go to Million Dollar Beach. We found the beach rules to be very strict relative to what we are used to, and did not spend a lot of time there. Claire was very helpful before and during our vacation. The house felt like a home, and was nicely decorated. We would recommend this property to others. The Prospect Mountain hike (just behind the house) was very nice, but I would not recommend for small children. We really enjoyed Capri's pizza on the strip. We saw the Thursday night fireworks from Neptune's restaurant - great place for the whole family. If you are looking to get out of the village check out the Painted Pony Rodeo - also great for families."

  • Amazing fall retreat!

"We loved every minute we spent in this house. It was clean, comfortable, and better equipped than any other house I have stayed in. The owner was friendly and helpful throughout the whole rental process. While it was chilly out, we still kayaked and even took a quick jump in the lake. It was freezing but really fun. We also walked the mile out to Gull Bay Preserve and took a 3 mile hike with the kids. A barred owl followed our motions for a while! Having the wood stove made the house toasty and comfortable after a day out in the cold with the kids. I would love to return!"

  • Quiet, Peaceful, Relaxing

"My husband and I chose Church Pond for our first anniversary, and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. We didn't want to stay in a hotel (we wanted to be able to make our own meals) and this was perfect. From the boats on the pond, the hot tub, the fire pit and the fully stocked kitchen- we couldn't have asked for a better place. We enjoyed every second of our mini vacation. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of serenity with us! We hope to be back again!"

  • Highly Recommend this home!!

"Thank you Barb and Doug for sharing your lovely home with my family; you were the perfect hosts!! We stayed over the July 4th holiday and the experience couldn't have been more pleasant. The home was just as listed; very clean and well maintained. They made sure we arrived safely and we were even greeted with a handwritten welcome note and bottle of wine!! This home is located within walking distance to everything; shops, restaurants and the lake!! We had a wonderful time walking through the shops, having coffee at Ozzie's Coffee Bar and the scenic chairlift views at McCauley Mountain were beautiful. The Prime Rib at Red Dog Tavern is worth the short drive to Inlet but get there early! Thank you again Doug and Barb for making our first stay in Old Forge so pleasant."
