  • Hawthorne House~Perfect Home, Perfect View, Perfect Getaway!

"This is our 2nd time at Hawthorne Home (it is a home, not just a house) We are a group of 4 couples that take yearly winter getaways for what we call our Big Chill Weekend. From the moment you walk in you feel like you are visiting a friend or relative because this is not your average rental. Everything you could possibly need or want is here. The view is spectacular and everything is close by for whatever Winter activity you choose. Nothing like sitting in front of the fireplace sipping wine and playing games after a long day of snowmobiling, skiing or shopping. There are tons of activities and restaurants. The owners are awesome and just a phone call away for anything you need. If you love to cook as we do at least once during our stay, the kitchen is awesome. Everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING you need is there. It is so warm and cozy and as much as I would like to keep it our little secret it is too good NOT to share. The area and location are as perfect as the peaceful view. My review can't do this home as much justice as it deserves. It is truly perfect. Can't wait until next year!!"

  • Summer Retreat

"This was the first time we stayed at this house but hopefully won't be the last! The location is near anything you want to do from hiking to jogging trails, kayak/canoe rentals, shopping in Bolton landing, Jumping spider Rock and any boating activity you can think of and we did it all. The view was spectacular - all meals can be eaten outside in the sun or shade depending on your desire and the weather. Swimming off the dock was enjoyed by all and the water was crystal clear most of the time except when it stormed. We had a couple of stormy days but it didn't last all day so we were able to get in activities every day. The kids could snorkel around the dock and there's a great sand area you can walk into from the dock if you don't want to jump off the dock. We had a family of 5 and we had plenty of room in the house. The house was very nice and kept very clean. The owners were very nice to work with and helpful with all of our questions. The outdoor fire pit was great for evening smores and just relaxing by the waters edge. Everything that you need is there. We really had a great time and can't wait to get back!"

  • One of our favorites

"Our group of 7 couples go away this weekend every year. This was our 24th annual weekend and our third time staying at Pharaoh View Lodge. It's the perfect size with plenty of places to divide up if the group has different interests. This was important as the Saturday of our stay was pouring and we couldn't be outside. There is lots of space, corners and nooks and crannies to play games, have quiet conversation, nap, etc. The Great Room furniture is comfy. We had a fire roaring in the fireplace. Because we cook our own meals, we were happy to have the extra stove and refrigerator on the porch. The kitchen is well equipped and our group rarely finds a table we can all eat at, but there's a perfect one here looking out over the lake. There's a washer/dryer although for two nights, we didn't use. Due to the weather, we did not take out any of the boats on the shoreline...canoe, rowboat, pedal boat, etc. but we did find a sunny couple hours to play volleyball at the court near the lake. It's a very peaceful area. There is a market and Stewart's shop within a few miles. Our dealings with the owner have always been pleasant."
