  • Simply The Best

"We stayed at the Blue House for a week at the end of August 2014. The location was superb, the lake gorgeous, and the house wonderful. It was very spacious, well-equipped, surrounded by trees, flowers and a stream. We enjoyed coffee by the lake every morning, either in the screened gazebo or on the chairs by the beach. We hiked, kayaked, canoed, and fished. We drove into North Creek and had lunch at Sarah's Cafe, and twice ate at BarVino - which has the best selection of beer and wine I have ever seen. We met the owners, who were gracious, friendly and happy to assist in whatever way they could to make our stay comfortable. We will be back!"

  • Highly Recommend This Place

"My wife and I had the pleasure of renting Random Scoots for two nights and would recommend it to anyone looking for good value in a beautiful location. They do a great job maintaining the cabin and surrounding property, and keep it stocked with everything you'll need for a long weekend or extended stay in the region (including maps, magazines, and guide books of the region, typical kitchen and cutlery offerings, and even stuff for laundry). The cabin is spacious, and the living room/kitchen is a multi-functional space with a great cabin ambience. The views from the fire pit outside are absolutely fabulous, and the cabin, despite being in a beautiful rural location, is just up the hill from the ADK Cafe, a Stewarts, and a great boutique market/wine store. Tom, the owner, is super responsive, friendly, accommodating, and easy to deal with. Can't say enough good things about this place..."

  • Wonderful family rental, close to village yet private

"This house was a good fit for two families plus grandparents. The common rooms were large enough to accommodate our party of ten if we all wanted to be together, but there was plenty of room for us to spread out when we wanted time apart! The house was just as shown in the pictures. The covered patio and outdoor fire pit are really great features you won't find at other rentals. The location is fantastic if you want to be within walking distance of the village, but still have quiet and privacy. It was ~ five to seven minute walk to the village and Shephard's Park. We needed a stroller for the younger ones in our party (~ 3 years old). The Shephard's Park beach was great for the kids (age 3 - 7). There was no need to go to Million Dollar Beach. We found the beach rules to be very strict relative to what we are used to, and did not spend a lot of time there. Claire was very helpful before and during our vacation. The house felt like a home, and was nicely decorated. We would recommend this property to others. The Prospect Mountain hike (just behind the house) was very nice, but I would not recommend for small children. We really enjoyed Capri's pizza on the strip. We saw the Thursday night fireworks from Neptune's restaurant - great place for the whole family. If you are looking to get out of the village check out the Painted Pony Rodeo - also great for families."

  • Cozy and quiet, great location

"We stayed at Little Peak for a week, our first visit to the Adirondacks, with our primary purpose of hiking and exploring the outdoors. The cabin was cozy and perfect for the two of us. The kitchen was very well-stocked with pots/pans/dishware/knives/utensils, etc., which was exactly what we were looking for as we cooked in more often than we ate out. The front porch/patio was great for eating meals outside. It has great access to Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain, and the high peaks region. The only drawbacks were: no washer/dryer unit, given our length of stay and how dirty we were from hiking; the hot water heater is pretty small so we had to wait 1/2 hour between our showers (which were short) to have enough for both of us; and the spiral staircase takes some dexterity, so anyone who has difficulty with stairs might have trouble with it. Overall, Little Peak was a great fit for our needs and we would love to stay here again if traveling to the area in the future."
