"My extended family of 9 adults, 2 children, and 4 dogs spent a week this August at Lago House. INSIDE: The house is very "utilitarian"- not a lot of "homey" extras, very simple décor. That being said, there was room for everyone with the 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. The bathrooms were acceptable in cleanliness as were the bedrooms. The downstairs family room and bedrooms were quite musty smelling when we arrived, but that was easily rectified by opening some windows and emptying the dehumidifier so it would continue to run. The children appreciated the big TV and couch in the downstairs family room on the rainy days to watch the Disney channel. The biggest con inside was probably the kitchen. Several of the cabinet drawers were broken, there may have been mouse poop in one, the dishwasher hardly cleaned any dishes (even after they had been rinsed), and I discovered a leak under the sink on check-out day. It could use some maintenance. Some supplies were lacking- there were only 6 coffee mugs and 8 forks to be found. I ended up donating 4 mugs I bought at the Walmart in Oneonta (20 miles away) to the cause. We used the stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, washer, dryer & propane grill with no issue. (We did not use the hot tub so I cannot comment on that.) OUTSIDE: The location is quite rural as described in the listing- best to be prepared and bring your supplies with you. It is quite a ways to get to any store! The large yard was great for ladder golf and football. The swings were used for hours on end. The firepit down by the water was great for smores and corn roasted on the coals. The lake is small, but the fishing was quite good. Our group caught several large bass, crappie, and pickerel, as well as perch and blue gills (all catch & release). The rowboats were in good repair and were used several times daily. As for swimming, a couple of our group swam in the middle of the lake from the kayaks we brought along. The lake frontage of the camp and area around the dock was quite congested with weeds, algae, and the like. None of us were willing to sink our feet into that! And a word of caution- the deck gets slippery when wet with rain. Be careful on the stairs! OVERALL: Lago House was large enough for our group and accepted pets. The fishermen enjoyed the offerings of Titus Lake. There are some areas that could use some improvement, but none that kept us from enjoying our vacation together. My boys say they would love to go back!"

"The house is wonderful. Comfortable, very clean, and a great layout for our party of 7 (including two young children) and a dog. Everyone had space when they needed but we were also able to easily gather together to cook, eat or complete a jigsaw puzzle. The grounds and views are great, though we didn't explore much as we went skiing every day. Plattekill is 10 mins away and Belleayre is about 20 mins away. The owner was easy to work with during the reservation process and made herself available for any questions/issues during the stay. But we didn't have any - everything was in perfect order. We would definitely rent it again."

"The house is amazing. Large house with a great view of the lake. The WiFi here is also fast. I was able to hook up my PS4 and watch Netflix and play games comfortably with my roommates (all while five of our phones were hooked onto the WiFi). The living room is large, and the dining room may look small, but fits comfortably for about seven diners. The stove is electric and cooks perfectly. Binghamton is a larger town only about half an hour away with plenty of restaurants to go to. The environment was amazing especially with the three deers that I encountered on the backyard. Very comfortable place. This is a must-rent house."

"My wife, 2 year old son and I stayed at Tusten Farms Manor House for a week in June and really enjoyed ourselves. We were looking to get out of the city and just spend some quality time together (most of our trips seem to be with friends or extensive family). The house is at the end of private road with only two other homes and is surrounded by trees. You can't see the neighbors and it certainly makes you feel like you have your own bit of peace and quiet. The tennis court and pool are situated a little bit away from the house and are themselves surrounded by trees which makes for a great setting as you feel like you're swimming or playing in the middle of a forest and not in a backyard. We used the pool every day. The home is well kept and the owner responsive in terms of answering questions, returning the security deposit, etc. The drive from/to Manhattan was about 2 hours but on the way we took our time and stopped at Whole Foods and a few other places to pick up items for the week. If you're looking for fresh air, quiet, and a nice home with pool to enjoy both (i.e. a break from the city) then Tusten Farms Manor House is likely for you. It was one of our more relaxing, enjoyable trips."
