  • A serene family escape in the guest barn

"What an absolutely gorgeous home-away-from-home. Our family (including 5 month old son) stayed in the lovely guest barn and it was perfect. The barn is beautifully set up with a cozy sitting area, designer kitchen, and table for family meals. The downstairs bedroom has a view back to the creek, and nice dark curtains keep things cool even during the hottest part of the day. The upstairs sleeping loft is its own little getaway with awesome silent padded "wood" flooring, a big comfy bed, and another sitting (napping, reading) area. A walk to the pond followed by dipping toes in the creek made a spectacular day."

  • Grand country elegance in the mountains

"We lived in this house for a blissful two months. It's one of the most grand yet comfortable retreats I've ever seen. Almost like a mini Mohonk Mountain House of your very own. The house is set up for both living and entertaining, with multiple bedrooms, two full baths, and even a third half bath tucked away. Cook in the superbly stocked and open chef's kitchen surrounded by your guests. Incredible views abound from every room, and there's plenty of space for privacy. Rustic yet luxurious--there is a soaking tub in the master bath you'll never want to get out of. A three season sunroom makes you feel as if you're eating amongst the trees. Speaking of trees, you can hike right out of your very own back yard up a mountain. Or walk across the quiet country road and sit by the rushing creek. A few yards down is a pure, deep swimming hole for warm weather. And when it gets cold, start a fire in the fieldstone fireplace, or the wood stove. Perfect for families with children, there is a rope swing, a big, flat rock for picnics, and tons of runaround room. Parents can watch younger kids from a hammock, swing, or chairs on the fieldstone porch, and older kids can play by themselves for hours. The owner is a master furniture maker, and his pieces offer both form and function. A long, silky dining room table seats twelve, for instance, and the bed in the master bedroom is a beauty, accompanied by two lovely night tables and a bureau. We can't wait to return to this majestic setting."

  • Perfect Country Retreat

"If you are looking for a beautiful house for a large group to gather, this is the place to be. The creative and artistic talents of the owners are evident everywhere you look. Our group of 12 included ages 9 - 78, traveling from many states and as far away as England. Immediately, all felt relaxed and welcomed as they came into the house. Although the large front porch bordered by beautiful shade trees was my favorite spot, people also enjoyed gathering in the living room, family room, playing outside or visiting the barn, an amazing space itself. The walks to the pond were a morning favorite for many. The kitchen is well stocked and allowed us to finalize preparations for a large picnic we were attending in nearby Andes as well as prepare breakfast for everyone before heading out for the day. Delhi is close by to get last minute supplies and we recommend the pizza shop next to the grocery store. At the end when it was time to all head off in different directions, we wished we had more time to spend together in such a wonderful place. If all goes well, we hope to meet again there next year."

  • Great Family Week on the Lake

"Our family had a great time while we were at the house. We really loved the location and the easy access to the lake. I was quite surprised to see how many people use the private Washington Beach! We had great weather, a little bit of rain that didn’t last very long and one day was very hot and humid, but on the average it was perfect. We used the canoe and row boat often and we also cleaned out the fire pit and used that a few nights. It was a lot of fun for everyone. While there, we saw a bald eagle, lots of deer, wild turkey and even had the chance to see a bear! It was frolicking in the open land on the right side of the Retreat across the lake. We all had a wonderful time and would love to enjoy the house and the lake again some time in the future."
