  • Fishing and relaxing

"We we stayed in the house for a week with 4 adults, 1- 9 year old boy and 2 dogs. It was a lovely site- don't worry as you drive down the gravel road, which is a little steep and not entirely well marked. Once you get to the house it opens up to a lovely, large secluded yard with lots of seating, a hammock, fire pit, large deck with grill and tall trees. The river access is right off the yard. We went into the river from the back yard in waders and fly fished right there! It was lovely and there were some fish (though it was a little warm in the water for trout at the time we were there at the Beaverkill and Delaware rivers). The house was very clean, nice linens, nice soap and towels, well appointed kitchen- extremely comfortable and really lovely. Only slight caveats are that the side screen door doesn't open properly (have to really wrench it open) and the kitchen sink pump for water makes a ratcheting sound. But the house was so lovely and comfortable- really a great relaxing get away. The owners were terrific, very accommodating and nice people. We took two dogs- a corgi and wire fox terrier and they loved walking in the yard and up the drive. In addition to trout fishing, we also bicycled (Harvard road is lovely) and went running. We built a fire in the fire pit and made 'smores and grilled out most nights. Overall, it was a lovely experience. I highly recommend."

  • Nice place, great location

"We stayed for a 4 day weekend and as others have reviewed the place is much roomier than you would first expect. Plenty of parking and just off the main drag in Hunter. Easy walk to the mountain and downtown restaurants/bars. Had a great time and the one issue we had, the owner was prompt in responding."

  • Fantastic Weekend at a Beautiful Location

"Kayaking was great, the reservoir was beautiful! The house itself was immaculate and very spacious. The giant glass doors and windows made for an impressive view. The decks were a wonderful place to sit in the sun and see the scenery. We all had a great time and hope to return!"

  • The Very Best

"This review is a 2-parter, first half for the owner and second half for the property. The Owner - Gale Brophy writes the book on running a luxury rental property. She is engaged and available enough to make sure you have everything you need at any given time, yet provides enough privacy and distance to make you feel like you own the property throughout your stay. Her only concern is that you enjoy your time at Riverview, and works with you before and during your stay to match her property best for your needs. Every group is different, and Gale understands that better than anyone. It's rare to encounter a property like this where you really feel like a friend gave you the keys for the weekend. I really can't say enough about what a pleasure she was to rent from. A+ The Property - Being the organizer of my group I had studied the pictures of Riverview multiple times before arriving. When I arrived I noticed two things: 1 IT'S HUGE, the pictures can't really capture how large this property is. 2. The set up and floor plans are perfect. Large spaces for when you want everyone together flowing into pockets of seclusion for when you want to escape and relax. I had a max capacity group and many times I felt like there were only a couple of us there. The only difficult part of the weekend was trying to enjoy every amenity of this property is just 3 days; Steam shower, pool table, sauna, hot tub, fire pit, the list goes on and on. The views are beautiful from the house, especially while sitting on one of the 5 balconies/porches with coffee in the morning. Needless to say, this was the perfect vacation with the best owner and best property I've ever encountered. Only rent this property if you want to raise the bar on your vacations. Thanks Gale! - JP"
