  • Winter wonderland

"We arrived on Thanksgiving Eve just before the snow became too bad. The cottage looked amazing at first light. It's a beautifully furnished place. The kitchen area is spacious and great for cooking. It feels remote but is actually not too far from many places including a supermarket and liquor store in Margaretville. The dog loved it of course too."

  • Wonderful long weekend getaway

"My wife, myself, our 8-year-old daughter and another couple stayed at the farmhouse for a long weekend in early November. We had a great time and felt right at home in the cottage, on the grounds and throughout the surrounding area. We had some cold weather the first night and the hillsides were dusted with snow, which gave everything an early-winter feel. We cranked up the wood-fired cookstove in the kitchen and it filled the house with that warmth that only cast iron can provide (there's also a regular furnace and thermostats to heat the place). The house was clean, neat and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed with cookware, utensils, dishes, etc. On the first morning, our host gave our little girl a quick tour of the henhouse on the working farm, which she thoroughly enjoyed. After breakfast that included some of the farm-fresh eggs, we took a long walk on the rail trial right out back. It passes through quiet old farm country bounded by the wooded hillsides of the northern Catskills. We spent many hours in Hobart's bookstores right up the road, there are seven of them by my count and the town is a mecca for anyone who loves reading. We toured some of the country roads and stopped in to some antique shops, farmstands and sampled some other local spots. We hope to return in the spring with our bikes to ride a longer section of the rail trail. Also, I'd like to bring my flyrod to fish the West Branch of the Delaware, a stone's throw from the farm. In all we had a great time and I would highly recommend the farmhouse to anyone seeking a quiet getaway. -rjj"

  • Perfect Cabin in the Woods

"Nothing but great things to say about this cabin and Marlyn! The pictures just don't do this special place justice. It's secluded, but close enough to town - we even walked in one day. There's tons of space to accommodate a big group both for sleeping and spending time together. Marlyn was also a pleasure to book with - incredibly responsive and full of helpful information. Can't wait to go back in the summer to use the backyard and pool!"

  • Stylish spot in funky Woodstock.

"The Villa in Woodstock is handsomely decorated and well appointed. Very comfortable in every way....beds, chairs, dining options. Wonderful indoor and outdoor spaces for conversation. Easy parking in a town where parking is an issue. Close to stores. We used both apartments for 9 people and the flow was easy. The town is loud and that is not a problem in this charming oasis."
