  • Excellent getaway

"Comfortable house, huge yard, located reasonably close to the town proper. The stay was great. Plenty of comfortable beds, couches. I'll be keeping an eye out for this property for my next trip to the area!"

  • Sweet September Getaway

"We had a wonderful long weekend in this lovely cabin, celebrating our anniversary. The beautifully-furnished rooms are quite comfortable -- especially the cozy bedroom, the living room with gorgeous stone fireplace, and the futon-equipped sunroom lined with windows for tree-gazing (or for a nice nap.) We also loved the light-filled bathroom (with a subway-tiled shower and beautiful terra cotta floor tiles) and the spacious blue slate patio, where we enjoyed the warmth of the fire pit while watching the stars come out. The cottage is very clean, with quality linens and towels provided. It is situated on a very quiet hilltop, and is conveniently located near the cute town of Phoenicia (we drove but one could enjoy a leisurely walk there.) We had a bountiful breakfast on Sunday at Sweet Sue's, a popular restaurant specializing in generous plates of pancakes (lemon ricotta and four grain were our choices -- yum!) Another great find was the restaurant Peekamoose, about 15 minutes by car in Big Indian. It has the largest mounted moose head we've ever seen! But what really attracted us was the inventive menu, craft beers, friendly servers and outdoor fire pit (wish this place were in our hometown!) During the weekend, we also visited Woodstock (had to do it, but kind of touristy/tacky), walked along the lovely Ashokan Reservoir, and explored some of the little towns along Rt. 28. David and June are the very helpful homeowners, who answered all our questions and responded quickly to emails. We highly recommend their charming cabin!"

  • Snowy paradise!

"My husband, teen sons, large furry dog and I had a wonderful time in Jackie and Paul's cabin. We wandered the snowy fields, skied and warmed our bellies with Sweet Sue's pancakes. It was the perfect combination of privacy (teenage boys) and family time, with nightly board games in front of the wood stove. The house was not wanting for anything and the beds and bed linens were extra wonderful. The basement with ping pong and pool was heavily used and the large furry dog had lots of room to chase her ball. We hope to visit in all of the seasons!"
