  • Perfect Cabin in the Woods

"Nothing but great things to say about this cabin and Marlyn! The pictures just don't do this special place justice. It's secluded, but close enough to town - we even walked in one day. There's tons of space to accommodate a big group both for sleeping and spending time together. Marlyn was also a pleasure to book with - incredibly responsive and full of helpful information. Can't wait to go back in the summer to use the backyard and pool!"

  • great house in a cool area

"My family stayed at the house for 1 month and had a wonderful time. The house was as described and looked brand new. House and kitchen had all the amenities we could want (including a fantastic blender!). We had one small problem and help was there in no time! I think they must have changed the bed in the master since the last review because we found a very comfortable queen mattress. The neighborhood is very quiet and neighbors are so far apart you really don't know they are there. Lake is small but nice for paddling around, my children went for a row or paddle almost every day - if you are looking for serious fishing you will need to go to one of the very nearby rivers. Livingston Manor and Roscoe are both cool little towns with great restaurants and a very authentic German bakery."

  • Lovely setting and gorgeous home

"I celebrated my 40th birthday at the Floating Farmhouse with a group of girlfriends. It was the perfect setting for us to reconnect over a long winter weekend making pizza and playing games around the fire. Despite plans to go hiking and explore the town, the farmhouse was so warm and relaxing we never left.... we might even make it an annual thing!"

  • A great city getaway and the 5-star host

"We live in Brooklyn and wanted to escape the city for a week of skiing. We have never been to this part of the state before and booked blindly. What a pleasant surprise the cabin was and the area. We had a good 2 days of skiing and really enjoyed coming back to this sweet little home tucked up a quiet road from the main one with a great view of the mountains. I bet this place is spectacular in the fall season. We ordered a bunch of wood to be delivered knowing we would want a fire going as much as possible, but it arrived too fresh to burn. (It wasn't seasoned as promised). Our host was wonderful and helped us remedy the situation. We recommend using the place she recommends for wood delivery if you are staying for awhile and need a lot of wood. Just make sure to get seasoned wood and some kindling. Having a fire is a must for ambience! We even used the TV to watch football (my husband, not me, although I did get caught up in a college football game that was quite amazing) but we kept the TV off as much as possible and enjoyed reading books and listening to music. They have a stellar wireless speaker system. The bed was a double and very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the bathroom was updated. We loved the pond and the stream that runs to it. All in all a great little getaway from the city. I brought a feather duvet and some pillows from home to make the place cozier (I can't stand cheap pillows) but the pillows they had were great and the comforters were new and warm enough that you wouldn't need to bring anything from home. We would love to come again. -- JD and NS from Park Slope, Brooklyn"
