  • Serenity Found!

"Tucked away against the hills above Woodstock town, the Serenity Villa was the perfect escape from the City. The entire property, in particular the sparkling pool, was meticulously clean, stylish, and well-maintained. When we were not swimming or lounging by the pool, we made good use of the large BBQ grill on the massive deck with views of the mountaintops above the trees (which would probably be spectacular in the winter when the leaves disappear). The upper deck off the living room made for a lovely breakfast spot for two as well as a great perch for our dog to view the deck activities. We appreciated the open plan of the living/dining/kitchen on the upper floor, so we could prepare meals and relax in the same space. We did not use the double-fire place (faced the dining and living areas), but imagined it would be smashing in the colder months. The master bedroom and bath were very spacious with its own small deck. The two bedrooms downstairs shared a bathroom and were graciously appointed. Off the back of the living room was a small deck with a walkway that led to an amazing moss garden laden with ferns - reminiscent of moss gardens in Japan and so picturesque in the morning light. My only caution would be the rather steep interior staircase, not unusual in a mountain home, but we had to watch our step going down (and there is a child/dog-proof gate at the top of the stairs). The property manager was extremely responsive and promptly answered all of our questions. We would love to return for another stay."

  • Wonderful for a family vacation

"We stayed for a week in August with 4 adults and two kids, ages 4 and 7, and had a wonderful time! There was plenty of room for us - we didn't use the additional bedroom in the basement. We went swimming, canoeing and kayaking in the river every day- the water was great. We ate out on the deck looking out on the water, and it was peaceful and wonderful out there. The kids had a fantastic time in the water, playing with the Wii video games, and going in the hot tub (we turned the temperature down so it was ok for kids). The kids' room had a beautiful mural painted across the entire room, a bunk bed, and an incredible selection of kids' books. Also, there was a tree house, play equipment, and sandbox in the front yard. For the kids, the whole place was magical. There were a lot of places to go hiking, and we visited a couple of farms that were all set up to show the kids animals, etc. Downtown of Saugerties is a modest walk or short drive from the house and was really nice. For us it was an ideal family vacation - the kids begged for us to come back again next year."

  • Perfect Weekend!

"Just returned from a wonderful Labor Day weekend at the Creek Side Escape. Perfect location...secluded but easy driving into Woodstock for groceries, etc. Owners on the property are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We loved grilling at night and sitting out by the fire pit. Mornings were peaceful on the deck, and the outdoor shower was great after a long day of hiking! Cozy cabin, but plenty of space for the weekend with the two of us and our dog. Great skylight in the lofted bedroom that opened up to the night air, and great wood interior. Can't wait to go back!!"

  • PERFECT! (From a VERY picky traveler.)

"WOW! We just returned from Gail's house in Woodstock. This is our 7th time renting upstate, and this is by far the most amazing home we have stayed in. It's absolutely perfect. The house is IMMACULATE. The cleanest rental home I have ever stayed in. I walked around in my white socks and they were still perfectly white by the end of the night. All the linens and towels were freshly cleaned and fluffed, all the dishes and glasses were spotless. The photos on the listing don't do the home justice. It's bigger and brighter and cozier than the photos can possibly depict. I very thoroughly enjoyed the GIANT soaking tub all three nights of my stay. The tub was more than large enough for 2 people to fit comfortably. Ending each evening with a glass (bottle) of wine, soaking in the giant tub next to the open windows letting in the crisp fresh air, and looking at the view of the moon over the trees was simply breathtaking. And starting every morning with the steam shower was fantastic! Although I didn't cook over the weekend, the kitchen was amazing. Double ovens, top notch appliances, every thing you could possibly need was stocked in this home. The property was huge and beautiful. So private and serene. My husband, myself and our pup explored a little bit of the property every day. It even has streams and waterfalls! Could it be any more perfect? Wifi worked great which was really important for us since we needed to work over the weekend a bit. And when we weren't absorbed in our all-too-attached-to-our-hip electronics and work e-mails, the board games were great to have! Boggle, trivial pursuit, cash cab, etc. Gail was an absolute pleasure to work with. She immediately answered all of my e-mails and questions (and I had a lot of them!) with prompt, thorough and friendly replies. She's a sweetheart and really a great person to rent from. Super secluded, yet really close to town, just a 7 minute drive to Tinker Street in Woodstock. We had a FANTASTIC dinner at Cucina which was just 7 minutes away. Highly recommended. I can ramble on another 5 paragraphs, but you get the idea. Can't imagine anyone not having an amazing stay. Such a fantastic getaway from the craziness of Bergen County and NYC. So sad to leave, but we will definitely be returning. Thank you so much gail for a memorable weekend in your gorgeous home."
