  • Perfect August Getaway

"Our "family of six" -- three people, family dog and two guinea pigs -- enjoyed the "Buddha Barn" for three glorious weeks this summer. Fresh peaches off the tree in the enormous garden, mountains of flowers, a wonderful terrace and porch, fires in the fireplace and beautiful stars at night were just a few highlights of the property. The farmhouse is full of elegant furnishings and offbeat touches. Not a stark environment, loads of personality. Historic charm but all the modern conveniences like wi-fi and good cookware. Lots of bedrooms, so a good choice for large families and groups, or in our case, lots of room for friends and cousins to spend the night. No unpleasant surprises, and many nice ones, like fancy soaps left out, plenty of towels and bedding, and an assortment of sun hats by the door. The area is home to the deer tick and we were well warned about that, but we only encountered one in three weeks, on the first day. Our hosts couldn't have been nicer and provided lots of information about the house and the area, including a Google map of resources and attractions. They gave us privacy while making themselves available in case of questions, and questions did come up during our long stay. Always a prompt and friendly reply. Very easy to find, and a good base for exploring the charms of Sullivan County. We made day trips to Skinner's Falls, Crystal Lake, Catskills Park, Sam's Point, and even the Dutchess County fair on the other side of the Hudson. Would be happy to return or to recommend to friends and relatives. In fact, one of those places you almost DON'T want to tell people about, lest you not be able to book a stay yourself!"

  • Fantastic property.

"We spent Xmas week here, 4 adults and 4 children, 3 and under. It's a beautiful place in a great location. Five minutes walk to the village but quiet with unobstructed views. Plenty of space for everyone although we centered most of our time in the cozy dome. The finish is high quality, everything works and the furnishings suite the property. It feels like a home rather than a bare bones holiday rental. The master suite is lovely (our 2 children actually slept very happily in the walk in closet). The other bedrooms are great too. Lovely cosy place to spend a week in the winter but I am sure it's equally great in the summer."

  • Absolutely wonderful cabin and location!

"The cabin is clean and unbelievably well kept with a modern bathroom and kitchen(fully equipped). Judging from the photos, we were concerned about the privacy, however this was not an issue at all. There are houses close by, but you are neither looking into anyone's property, nor is someone looking in on you. There is a beautiful stone porch with a fire pit and is surrounded by woods. Ultimately, this cabin allows for an intimate stay for those who like to hike and indulge in the beauty of tiny towns nearby."
