  • A special Catskills getaway

"Three years ago, my husband and I decided to look for an upstate summer getaway (we live and work in NYC). We looked at a few places, but knew immediately that we felt good about this place. It is cozy while having an open lay-out. It has everything you would need - enough space for guests should they come, a good kitchen, washer/dryer, and entertainment. Best of all, really, is that it's across the street from a motorless lake. We've been back since - 4th of July weekend in 2012, a full month last August. We first rented Amber Lake as a couple -- and have been happy to introduce our toddler to Amber Lake and the Catskills. (He loved it -- and calls the place "wa-wa" for the water/lake). It's cool and quiet without being remote - Livingston Manor has a cute little town with a great bakery, market, and diner. My husband fishes at the lake, we walk go for walks, barbeque on the porch... our time here has been memorable and truly part of our family's story. Communicating with the owners has been easy via phone or email, and we've had no issues in all the times we've stayed there. Highly recommend (even though, as I write this, I fear that we will find Amber Lake unavailable for the next time we want to visit!)"

  • Relaxation at it's Best

"A top-notch spot for a relaxing weekend getaway - couldn't have been better - our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Not only was the owner kind and readily available for any questions or concerns, the house is beautiful and looks even better in person. The reservoir makes for wonderful swimming and kayaking and I highly recommend the available bonfire experience for relaxing at night. The area and property are peaceful and quite - the trees around providing for a great view and sense of privacy and calm. A dinner on the beautiful deck, a view of the lake from the hot tub, and a bonfire under the stars after a day on the lake hit the spot - just beautiful and well-kept all around. Highly recommend this house for both its serenity, comfort, cleanliness and the kindness of the owner. Thank you for opening your home and we will be sure to come back for another visit."

  • Perfect Autumn Weekend!

"We were a group of 8 that stayed for a weekend in October. The house was in the perfect location - walking distance to Hunter (about a 20 minute walk), overlooking a small lake, and surrounded by woods for a little privacy. The house has 3 bedrooms, each with one full size bed and one with a twin bed as well. The loft area also has a futon mattress and room for an air mattress. The house was a nice size - plenty of room for all 8 of us to sit around the living room/kitchen. The deck overlooking the lake was the perfect setting for morning coffee. The kitchen was (mostly) stocked with the essentials to cook each meal at home. I suggest you bring paper towels and garbage bags - we had to do a last minute shopping run. The house was very clean and comfortable. The only "issue" was the shower found in the upstairs bathroom. It may just need a new shower head as there was no water pressure. The shower in the downstairs bathroom was fine. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again in the near future!"

  • great rental all round

"It was a pleasure working with Mirav (the owner) in setting up our wedding weekend. We were pleasantly surprised the moment we walked through the doors. From the hammock next to the stream, the hot tub, the open layout, and even the deer and wildlife..it was a perfect little getaway. Mirav was very considerate of our privacy and even volunteered to be a witness and take pictures at our "ceremony" that we had on the back porch. Great location near woodstock and Phoenicia as well. We certainly hope to be back."
