  • Grand country elegance in the mountains

"We lived in this house for a blissful two months. It's one of the most grand yet comfortable retreats I've ever seen. Almost like a mini Mohonk Mountain House of your very own. The house is set up for both living and entertaining, with multiple bedrooms, two full baths, and even a third half bath tucked away. Cook in the superbly stocked and open chef's kitchen surrounded by your guests. Incredible views abound from every room, and there's plenty of space for privacy. Rustic yet luxurious--there is a soaking tub in the master bath you'll never want to get out of. A three season sunroom makes you feel as if you're eating amongst the trees. Speaking of trees, you can hike right out of your very own back yard up a mountain. Or walk across the quiet country road and sit by the rushing creek. A few yards down is a pure, deep swimming hole for warm weather. And when it gets cold, start a fire in the fieldstone fireplace, or the wood stove. Perfect for families with children, there is a rope swing, a big, flat rock for picnics, and tons of runaround room. Parents can watch younger kids from a hammock, swing, or chairs on the fieldstone porch, and older kids can play by themselves for hours. The owner is a master furniture maker, and his pieces offer both form and function. A long, silky dining room table seats twelve, for instance, and the bed in the master bedroom is a beauty, accompanied by two lovely night tables and a bureau. We can't wait to return to this majestic setting."

  • Relaxing for the whole family

"The quiet setting and fire pit were a real hit with our family. Our "city kids" enjoyed room to run, roasting marshmallows and seeing deer walk across the lawn. We also used the screened in porch and grill almost every night -- what a treat! We fell in love with the area........close proximity to lakes, water/fun parks and ice cream stands. The owners were easy to work with and very helpful. They made us feel right at home. Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat!"

  • Incredible!!

"A group of us went for two days last weekend and were all sad to leave. House is clean, secluded and truly amazing. We had 4 couples with us and all had a great time. The stream in the front of the house was beautiful and beside a relaxing fire pit. Sean and Sofia were very helpful and efficient in the booking process/returning security deposit. House was clean and true to the pictures. Small town close by was a great activity for couple hours. Very close to hunter mountain so we may book again in the winter. 2 thumbs up. Thanks Sean and Sofia!"

  • PERFECT! (From a VERY picky traveler.)

"WOW! We just returned from Gail's house in Woodstock. This is our 7th time renting upstate, and this is by far the most amazing home we have stayed in. It's absolutely perfect. The house is IMMACULATE. The cleanest rental home I have ever stayed in. I walked around in my white socks and they were still perfectly white by the end of the night. All the linens and towels were freshly cleaned and fluffed, all the dishes and glasses were spotless. The photos on the listing don't do the home justice. It's bigger and brighter and cozier than the photos can possibly depict. I very thoroughly enjoyed the GIANT soaking tub all three nights of my stay. The tub was more than large enough for 2 people to fit comfortably. Ending each evening with a glass (bottle) of wine, soaking in the giant tub next to the open windows letting in the crisp fresh air, and looking at the view of the moon over the trees was simply breathtaking. And starting every morning with the steam shower was fantastic! Although I didn't cook over the weekend, the kitchen was amazing. Double ovens, top notch appliances, every thing you could possibly need was stocked in this home. The property was huge and beautiful. So private and serene. My husband, myself and our pup explored a little bit of the property every day. It even has streams and waterfalls! Could it be any more perfect? Wifi worked great which was really important for us since we needed to work over the weekend a bit. And when we weren't absorbed in our all-too-attached-to-our-hip electronics and work e-mails, the board games were great to have! Boggle, trivial pursuit, cash cab, etc. Gail was an absolute pleasure to work with. She immediately answered all of my e-mails and questions (and I had a lot of them!) with prompt, thorough and friendly replies. She's a sweetheart and really a great person to rent from. Super secluded, yet really close to town, just a 7 minute drive to Tinker Street in Woodstock. We had a FANTASTIC dinner at Cucina which was just 7 minutes away. Highly recommended. I can ramble on another 5 paragraphs, but you get the idea. Can't imagine anyone not having an amazing stay. Such a fantastic getaway from the craziness of Bergen County and NYC. So sad to leave, but we will definitely be returning. Thank you so much gail for a memorable weekend in your gorgeous home."
