  • The Bumpy Road to Paradise

"The cottage is a perfect blend of old and new. I spent a week, where until my daughter arrived midweek I was alone on the lake with my two dogs and nature. Perfect for someone wanting peace. Having rented other place where the linens were not what I would have liked I had packed a suitcase full. It stayed in the car. Claire provides lovely linens. There is plenty of hot water and water pressure for those for whom that is important. The scenery is enchanting. You can see every rock in the bottom of the lake and every trout that swims by. I was amazed to see herons that far north but herons there were to my delight. If you are driving in to or from the cabin in the evening the herds of deer in the meadows just pick their heads up and watch you go by or stop and look as you take their photos. Granted you are only going 10 miles an hour or you will lose your transmission on the bumpy road to paradise. Trips out to Calicoon, the Sunday flea market is wionderful, The Cafe Devine, devine and their lattes even better, trips to Roscoe, Horton, and Andes well worth the ride but really I did not want to leave the lake. I can't wait to get back to the cabin, hopefully this summer, granted I will not have the lake to myself but it will only add to the charm i am sure."

  • Fun weekend getaway

"My friends and I had a great time away from it all. The house is exactly as promised, and the owner was very helpful throughout the booking process. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and would return in the future. Only regret was not making use of the pool table, but it was too nice to stay indoors! A fun nearby activity was tubing in Phoenicia, a short drive away. All around great spot."

  • A lovely, peaceful country weekend with perks

"This is a really lovely getaway, a fairly short drive from NYC but like another world. The farmhouse is a wonderful combination of old architecture and modern conveniences, very clean and beautifully furnished and spacious with a large eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace, and family room with woodburning stove in addition to the comfortable bedrooms. Plenty of room for your family to hang out together or to have alone time, whichever you feel like doing. During warm months there is also a picnic table and a hammock under large, shady trees. You can sit on the big, comfy porch and watch the sunset and the horses grazing in the paddock right in front of you with the barn cats purring on your lap if you let them. My two dogs loved exploring the pasture and the woods, full of intriguing critter smells and safely distant from traffic. Very close by you can find a variety of very good restaurants (and pizza and burger joints if you prefer), antique shops, parks with hiking, swimming and boating, lots of local history and culture to check out. The owners, Peter and Ahna, are friendly and helpful. All in all a sweet deal, highly recommended."

  • beautiful, peaceful cabin in the woods

"We stayed at this lovely cabin during our family reunion in walton and everything was so nice. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. Maria gave us a wonderful welcome gift basket with lots of goodies inside which was a nice surprise! Maria was a pleasure to deal with and very helpful telling us about the Sidney Dam which was so beautiful for swimming and even had a dog beach for our dog to swim at. We will definitely be back!"
