"My family and I were visiting the area, like many, because my son was playing in a tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park. We did not want to be confined to a hotel room and decided to rent a house for the week. We decided on Tuscarora after seeing the beautiful pictures and great reviews online. While we were a 20 minute drive to the park, it was worth the little bit of extra drive time to enjoy such a beautiful property (the drive itself is quite scenic and pleasant). After being at baseball games all day, it was so nice to come back to a relaxing environment whether to sit outside on the beautiful patio or by the pond. While the house is geographically close to the park it felt a world away. Depending on the day's game schedule, we would sometimes come back between games and it was a nice reprieve from a lot of baseball (in fact my daughter brought some of the teenaged sisters of the team back for an afternoon and they raved about the house for the rest of the week). Greg is a terrific host and made sure we were all set and gave us some great recommendations for some local restaurants. I would highly recommend renting Tuscarora to anyone but particularly if you are in the area for baseball. I think it is a much better option than some of the hotels that may be a bit closer. Like us, you will be glad you made the decision."

  • Another wonderful Columbus day weekend at the Treehouse

"We just returned from a long weekend in Cooperstown and it was fantastic as usual. Every year, we have a college reunion with two other families and their kids (6 adults, 6 kids) and this year was our 3rd time staying at the Treehouse. The house is absolutely beautiful with amazing views. It is very clean and comfortable for our group of 12. The kids swam and fished off the dock, and we all enjoyed cocktails and smores by the fire pit. This year, we were also thrilled to see the kitchen had all brand new appliances. The owner, Bill, is always incredibly accommodating and helpful - quick to answer questions or handle any issue that may arise. The house is also close to Glimmerglass and an easy drive into town. I highly recommend staying here!"

  • Perfect location! Great house!

"We just returned from a week in Cooperstown for baseball and stayed at Putnam house. The location is perfect. 3 miles from the Dreams Park, 4 miles from downtown Cooperstown and 2.5 miles from Ommegang brewery. We had 3 families together share the house with younger siblings while boys and dad's stayed in baseball barracks. Perfect for kids who spent every free minute either in the pool or the game room. The pool was the best part and really clean. Everything was wonderful. Bob, the owner was great to work with and even stopped by. The house is comfortable and clean with plenty of space. Sheets and towels were provided which was so helpful. We were even able to grill out. The games and puzzles were a nice touch! The surrounding landscape is beautiful as well. We had such a memorable week in Cooperstown and we all loved staying here. Highly recommended!"

The Howe Caverns are one of the area's great attractions. With a vast network of underground limestone caves, traditional and adventure tours operate on a daily basis. Venturing down into the depths of the earth, you can see impressive stalactites and stalagmites, take a boat excursion on an underground lake, and hear your voice echo off the walls. The caverns are 165 feet below ground and believed to have been formed more than six million years ago. The geological and archeological histories are fascinating, and the caves also have strong links to the Civil War. Visiting the Howe Caverns is a must.

Special occasion trains such as the Polar Express operate near Christmastime where you can get to ride with Santa to the North Pole.

Binghamton is an interesting city where you will find many antique stores to browse. The city is also known as the "carousel capital of the world" because of its rare and impressive collection of antique Herschell carousels. The carousels were donated to the city by a wealthy benefactor and many still operate today. Binghamton is a lively city with plenty of arts and entertainment. The theaters have regular opera and orchestral performances. The North East Classic Car Museum features the largest known collection of Franklin luxury cars. For the kids, two places well worth visiting are the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park and The Discovery Center which is an interactive museum specifically for young children.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame can be found in Cooperstown, located near the shores of Lake Otsego. Baseball fans come to appreciate the tributes to heroes of the game. Known as the Village of Museums, Cooperstown is also home to the National Soccer Hall of Fame, the Fenimore Art Museum and the Farmers Museum.
