  • As great as advertised

"Our family decided to try the Finger Lakes as a vacation destination instead of the cottage country north of Toronto, and based on our time spent at the You're A Star cottage, we've already decided to make the Finger Lakes an annual family tradition. First off, the cottage itself is absolutely beautiful. The pictures don't do justice to the level of craftsmanship and detail you'll immediately appreciate upon arrival. We were pleasantly surprised, especially with the roomy master suite that takes up the entire upstairs. The cottage is on a quiet lane and grounds are very well looked after. The entire week we were there we only saw two other cottages occupied, so it was particularly quiet and relaxing. The lake itself is very shallow which is great, especially if you have small children. Our son and small dog were able to wade in and play at their convenience, as well as providing some peace of mind from a safety perspective. Auburn was a very convenient drive, maybe 15 minutes, to grocery stores that have everything you need. Outlet shopping is also a short drive and worth the visit for some great deals. I would recommend this cottage for anyone looking to relax and unwind. I would particularly recommend a trip to the Farmer's Market in Ithaca (30 minutes drive but worth it) as well as the Finger Lakes Drive-In Theater if you have a family."

  • 2nd time and just as wonderful

"We very much enjoyed our 2nd stay "At The Corner" to attend our daughter's graduation from Ithaca College. The house was everything we expected and more; with the addition of the 5th bedroom on the first floor. The house is very comfortable, clean and full of interresting furniture and decorative pieces. The beds were comfortable, rooms spacious and quiet and the bathrooms were well supplied with big thristy towels. This rental property is very accurately represented on the VRBO site, its location is quiet and peaceful but easily accessible to all the area has to offer. I would highly recommend this property and would look to stay here once again should the need arise."

  • Charming comfort

"We had a small family reunion at the historic Ellis Hollow Church. The accommodations were as described, clean, well-maintained, and met our needs nicely. The kitchen was very functional and allowed us to prepare our communal meals as well as good for grazing for breakfasts and lunches. We liked that they have bins for recycling. There was plenty of parking for the cars. We spent a good deal of time sitting in the main area, playing games and music, and telling family stories. Because of it's history, it felt right to reminisce there. You can have a pleasant walk on the country roads near the church, but use caution with traffic at certain times of day. There's a nice yard in front if you're there during warmer weather. It's only 5-10 minutes to East Hill Plaza which has a nice grocery store and 10-15 minutes to downtown Ithaca and the many surrounding parks and wineries. It's also not far from Dryden if you go over the hill. We spoke with Maureen and Linda before arrival. Both were very pleasant and helpful with the reservations and information for our planning. I have and will continue to recommend this rental to friends and family."

  • Great week at the Windgarth

"My family had a great week at the Windgarth this past July. The location was great and the house was clean and comfortable, It is also in a nice quiet area, and is away from route 89 - the main road that is on the west side of Cayuga Lake. The gentle sloping yard was very nice as other houses on the finger lakes either have no backyards or the slope down to the water or to the house itself is too steep. We rented the entire house as our adult children met us there for a few days during the week. We were all very comfortable. It is also very close to several wineries. We were very happy with the Windgarth and look forward to renting every year the 2nd week of July. The owners of the house are very nice people, and our security deposit was promptly returned after our rental. I just hope that no one tries to book the 2nd week in July since that's the week we want o stay at the Windgarth."
