  • Awesome views - constantly changing

"I stayed here Oct 11th thru the 14th 2013. This lake cottage had everything I was looking for. Right on the water and unbelievable views. Awesome sunsets and star lit skies! Close enough to town, 10 minutes at the most and far enough away if you like it quiet. The kitchen and bathroom were recently updated. Although it sleeps 6 you have to remember there is only one bathroom, which was fine for me since I was alone. The only other point I want to mention is there is a very steep incline to get to this property. Don't let that stop you unless the weather is adverse, then it could be treacherous. Since I was there in the fall, I can't speak for the activity on the lake. This property is at the south end of the lake and had mostly sun after noon this time of year, something to think about if you prefer sun over shade.Which I do!"

  • Great vacation

"This was an absolutely fantastic vacation, with a beautiful location on Keuka Lake; responsive but not intrusive nearby owners who responded to any minor problems we had; and a wonderful lakeside patio where one could read, relax, recall memories of earlier get-togethers, or just enjoy the beauty of the environment. Great restaurants nearby, vineyards with fun tastings, and just a relaxing, enjoyable week. Although one individual had minor mobility problems, she was able to do the stairs and encountered no problems. Would return again in a heartbeat."

  • Better than the pictures - this is a winner!

"This was my family's first time at the Finger Lakes, and we enjoyed every moment of it, much of it thanks to this lovely home located in a charming little town of Hammondsport. Staying here, you don't feel like you're in a vacation home - you feel like you're visiting your well-heeled, tasteful relatives who've taken every measure to make sure your visit is comfortable - plush towels, high quality linens, even the carpet...they've really lovingly restored this cottage and they definitely did not go for the "economic" options. No futons or cheap coverlets hiding multitudes of sins on the couch here (which I've definitely experienced in other VRBO or airBnB homes). You'll love it. I actually think the house is better than the pictures, so let me try to describe it. This house is about 1400 square feet excluding the semi-finished basement (ask Dan to give you a tour, it's fantastic, he's SO well-organized), with two large bedrooms, one on the first floor and another one on the second floor. The first floor features a fantastic common area - upon entering through the side door, you have a spacious great room with comfy couches, a television, and a gorgeous open kitchen with a bar set upon two wine barrels. You'll come to appreciate this detail since they're used widely all over the finger lakes region to beautiful effect. The kitchen is brand new, with great appliances and every little bowl and utensil you could possibly want. Then, towards the front of the house (closer to the street), there's a sitting area/desk plus the bedroom and bathroom. Upstairs there is a lovely claw footed tub (but no shower curtains or shower head - we used it to give our 1-year old a bath every night and it worked great) and a full bathroom, plus a bedroom with its own television. There's also a full size laundry room. Note that there's no formal dining room, but we ate outside almost every night during our two-week stay on the deck, as it is fully equipped with tables and comfy chairs. Highly recommended! A quick note about the town...it's a lovely 7-minute walk to the "village square" where we made many happy walks every day. The Keuka Artisan Bakery has the BEST pastries, hands down, baked fresh on site every morning except for Tues/Wed, AND you must visit the library if you have children. One of the best library children's room I've ever seen and a beautiful library overall. Enjoy!"
