"We chose this cottage because it has so many great reviews, and after spending a restful week there, I can confirm that the reviews are accurate. The owners are next door down a small path and are extremely helpful and accommodating. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. This clean, cozy, rustic little cottage has everything you need - sheets, towels, cookware, internet service (not that we used it), an outdoor grill, picnic table, beach chairs and local TV. I'd recommend this place to anyone who doesn't require a 5-star hotel. Barbara and Ken are 100%, 5-star owners, and we miss them already! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for allowing us to stay in your lovely cottage. Our dog Banjo misses you too!!!!"

"Our family of 5 went to visit Skaneateles for one week. Our hosts were very friendly. Though their house is located 200 feet from the cottage, it was a very private visit. The steps to the dock were not a problem as other reviewers mentioned. We also rented a boat and had no problem using the mooring and taking the rowboat to the mooring so we wouldn't have to wade into the water. The 11 acres of woods were great for walks and we saw deer, an owl and turkeys during our stay. The children enjoyed the creek as well as the lake activities. We were allowed to use the kayaks and canoe as we wanted. The setting is preserved as it was probably in the 50's when the cottage was likely built. The cottage was clean with a kitchen that was remodeled and a nice small bathroom. The kitchen did not have a dishwasher but that was okay since we had paper plates and many hands to help with dishes. The rooms were nice, but my husband and I chose to stay in the room with two twin beds since a double bed is a little small for us. That worked fine for us since our daughter enjoyed the double bed! We will return if we have the time in our schedule. It was very quiet and we were able to sleep uninterrupted every night. We enjoyed a fire in the firepit and found that the owners supplied the wood and propane for the fire and grill. It was a really nice time and we hope to return next year."

"I stayed at this beautiful home with my husband and our 3 young children: ages 7, 4 and 2. The house is well set-up for a family. It is newer construction and set-up like a 3 bedroom apartment. There are 3 good sized bedrooms, one with a trundle bed (very comfortable), one with a bunk bed (double on the bottom and twin on top), and the master bedroom has an on suite bath, large closet and lake views. The Kitchen is open to the dining area and living room- so this is great for entertaining, and for keeping any eye on little kids. The kitchen is well stocked with any utensil, dish or cooking pan you could need. It is nice that the owners are on the other side of the home so if you need anything they respond promptly. Outside: you can drive right to the home. There is nice decking that provides functional outdoor space. The dock on the water has damage from the winter, which is being fixed- so that is not as functional at this time, but I am sure it will be fixed and be functional in the future.- The waterfront is good for boating and fishing. It is good swimming for older children, but not young child friendly. We really enjoyed the hiking trails that are right down the road from the home. we went on nightly hikes and my kids loved catching salamanders in the brook. This house is an ideal set-up and the kids were happy...so the parents were happy... and that is a good vacation in my book."

"What a wonderful house to Rent!! This was the first time that me and my family visited Skaneateles Lake and it exceeded all of our expectations. The lake is a gem to say the least, and the water is crystal clear and refreshing. The huge plus about this house is that it is situated directly on the lake with a large beautiful deck and very easy lake access. We enjoyed using the grill and dinning with views of the lake during sunset. Spending time boating in the house's very nice large canoe and single person kayak was very enjoyable. There is a swimming platform just off the house which was very pleasant to swim to and jump off of, and the house has lots of floats to use too. I'm a fisherman and was very successful fishing off the dock and from the canoe catching small mouth bass. We also rented a party boat at the Skaneateles Marina which was a very good deal and half price on Monday's or Tuesdays. It's a great way to see a lot of the lake and beautiful homes surrounding it. The house is very comfortable with a nice kitchen that had everything you need to cook with. The living room is large with a TV that has all the cable channels, but we rarely used it because the lake provided so much entertainment. The beds and bedrooms were very comfortable also. Then there is the town. Skaneateles is a treasure with many great restaurants to choose from and surrounding wineries to visit and do tastings at. Don't miss Anyela's Vineyard, that is just a few miles down the road from the house. We also took a day trip to Niagara Falls which was a little under 3 hours away and very doable from the house. It was incredible to see!
If you want to experience a Fingerlake at it's best, Skaneateles Lake and this house is it! We had the best week ever!!"
