  • Excellent well stocked retreat

"My family and I stayed for 8 days and 7 nights. The location is beautiful. The little town your next to is the perfect vacation town as well...low key and relaxing. The house was stocked full of anything and everything we needed. The dock was a perfect fit for both my catamaran and canoe, with Little Sodus Bay being the perfect area to sail."

"Our stay couldn’t have been better. The cottage is right on the lake front – a lovely lawn, beach and dock are right out the door. It's located in a beautiful park-like area, well-away from the highway, down a private road leading into a private association. Behind the cottage is a very large area of grass, a swing set, tennis courts, basketball court and plenty of protected space for kids to play. It provides a very private feel overall. The neighbors were very friendly and we never had a sense of anyone being too close. The great front porch added greatly to making the week a special treat. With large windows on three sides, it opens up the entire lake front experience. A long table for dining at one end and plenty of wicker chairs, sofa, and rockers, it provided plenty of room for folks to be alone with a book or gather to chat – or to simply sit and enjoy the view. On the couple times we had a bit of rain, it was especially nice to still sit and enjoy the outdoors. Behind the front porch is a large living room with two large leather sofas. With the beautiful porch we didn’t spend much time in the living room, but it did provide another space for anyone who wanted to have a bit of private space. The “beach deck,” the porch, the living room, and the lawn were separate areas where folks could be alone, gather in couples or small groups, and never feel that they were all crowded together. Behind the living room was a bathroom with a large shower – just fine. And then the kitchen. Wow! We’ve rented several VRBO houses, and we’ve never come across such a fully stocked and equipped kitchen. At least a double set of dishes plus many bowls and platters, glasses, cups, mugs, and wine glasses never had anyone short. Cutlery, every kitchen utensil, gadget and appliance and a new, very large fridge – and a second fridge in the garage. (No need to stuff supplies, buy ice for coolers, or constantly re-stock drinks.) Plenty of room in the large kitchen with table and room-wide counter for food prep.) A new washer and dryer was a great help for beach towels and a mid-week wash. Our two granddaughters commandeered the lovely sleeping porch. A large bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, another double and a back bedroom with two doubles all provided plenty of sleep space. The garage was a plus with plenty of room to store games, bikes, etc. The cottage exceeded our expectations in every respect. And thanks to the thoughtful owners who made our stay such a delight."

  • chardonnay cottage

"Our group consisted of 2 couples for a long weekend vacation in Hammondsport, NY. This house was perfect for us. We enjoyed fires out back, cooking meals in the fabulous kitchen and hanging out on the deck. The home felt like we were staying at a friend's home.... living room has leather furniture that was wonderfully comfortable. The house has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, however one bath has a tub only. Beds were very comfy. Plenty of parking. We did not walk into town because we had a disabled person with us who could not comfortably make the trip. I recommend this home for vacationers spending time in Hammondsport NY."

  • Keuka Lakeside August 2014

"This cottage was beautiful and very well equipped / furnished for a fun and relaxing vacation. Starting from my inquiries on the cottage and through to arrival details and making sure we didn't have any needs not addressed once there, David was extremely accessible, friendly and helpful. He even provided me detailed instructions and pictures on using the mooring whips for docking my boat. The whips are fantastic for people who want to keep their boat from bumping the dock - and it will without them - they did a great job. The outdoor gas grill is sheltered from weather on the patio under the deck, so you can still bbq even in rain. This sheltered patio area is also nicely furnished and well lit - fun place to hang out in the evening, along with the dock or deck. The east side of the river location affords views of the sunset over the opposite side, nice! Boat launches are nearby, if you being a boat its a good idea to launch your boat first instead of hauling it down to the cottage - we hauled ours straight to the cottage and backed it up into the parking area but it takes some trailering skills, I would launch first my next stay. We hope to return in the future!"
