  • Perfect Seneca Lake Cabin for Us

"A unique century cabin with amazing views and access to the lake. It is, as billed, very rustic - and we loved that and enjoyed every minute there. Still, this is NOT the cabin for everyone (see further below). The two porches virtually hanging over the lake were well-used and outfitted with comfortable (if not new) couches and chairs. Newer gas grill. The three, separate sleeping spaces were perfect for a 50s couple and two teen boys. The furnishings were charming and durable, and the kitchen has every possible dish, pot and utensil. We created a hot spot with a cell phone and had spotty internet access. Bring your own iPod and movies for the DVD player and stereo. The cabin has a complete game chest. The lakefront area is great for fishing (though we caught nothing!) and campfires, and the kayaks and canoe got a workout. The manager, Maureen, was a gem in every way, and we were glad to hear our local friends knew and liked the owners. The owners' daughter paid a visit while we were there, and she was friendly and interesting. Wineries line Route 14 to the north and south, and Watkins Glen is 10 minutes away. But any potential renter needs to make sure this is the safest and right spot for their group. I would NEVER bring child younger than 10 to this spot. The 60+-foot drop off to the lake is just off the front porch, and a ravine to the south is equally precipitous. 70+ stairs to the lake on a very durable staircase winded us and our older dogs, but were great exercise. Same steep climb if you just take a walk up the hill toward 14, and one car w/poor tires got stuck while we were there. The tiny kitchen is in a hallway and created bottlenecks. And the full bath is basically in the open area containing the steep, narrow stairs to the 2nd floor. SURPRISE if you step out of the shower or toilet without checking. Upstairs is another safety concern - an 18-inch chair rail around the steep staircase. One too many beers and, well... Still, the cabin is what it is, and we found it perfect. Doubt the owners could do anything more to ameliorate the downsides. We'll be back!"

  • Family Vacation

"We rented the Lakeside Villa for our family vacation. There were 11 adults and 3 children, covering 4 generations of our family. The beautiful home was spacious and yet felt warm and inviting. The photos didn't do justice to the beautiful views of the lake from the many windows. The lovely covered porch on the main level became the meeting place for conversations, family game time and meals. My mother couldn't walk down the stairs often but could watch the family swimming below and enjoyed the view of Seneca lake. We had never vacationed on this lake before but found the sandy beach perfect for the children. The warm, shallow water along the shore was perfect for the children to swim and play in and enticed everyone in for a swim. The owner was warm and gracious and made everyone feel at home. We had her phone number and were told to call if we had any concerns. The parking area was large and made it easy to store the boat trailers we had. It was easy to get in and out without moving others' vehicles. The trains, which ran behind the home, went through sometimes twice daily and other days not at all. The kids loved going out to see them and most of the adults were right there with them. Even in the evenings, we really weren't bothered by the trains. The location of The Villa was perfect. We were close to Geneva if we needed any type of store or restaurant. The golf course was just back behind Glass Factory Bay Road and the marina was just down the lake a short distance. Having city water and a sewer system made our stay that much more worry free. Our family has vacationed on the Finger Lakes for 65 years and we were thrilled to find a home on the lake large enough so that we could continue our get togethers. We will be returning next summer to this lovely home."

  • Best on the Finger Lakes

"The views, the amenities, the facility itself are all outstanding. Perhaps the best of all is the owner, Christine. She insured al of our wants and needs were met. There are nearby restaurants, wineries and lots to do. Our dog probably had the best time of all, swimming every day. This is one instance that the property description was exceeded by our actual experience. The Terry's"

  • Great place for a large group!

"We went up for the "Deck the Halls" wine tour. We had a group of 10 and needed a home that could accommodate. This home did that perfectly for us. It has great charm and character. It was further from the lake than we expected, but since we were going in the winter, that did not matter to us. If you are going in the summer you may want to look into that further. But for all of our needs, it was a perfect match. I also saw others posting things on here about security deposits. I can say that we received our full security deposit back within days of our departure. Thanks Michelle!"
