  • Gorgeous setting for relaxing

"The Chosen Place is a wonderful spot for a summer vacation. The owners were very helpful and just a phone call away with answers to any questions. The photos show exactly how lovely and homey the cottage is. The only drawback of the cottage is the very steep stairs to the 2nd bedroom on the lower level. They weren't difficult to navigate, but definitely would not work for someone with a bad knee or hip. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The house is a great size for 4 to 6 people, and the view, well the view from the porch deck made me smile all through my morning pot of coffee. Since the cottage is close to both Naples and Canandaigua, there's so much to do and you can just get up and go without really planning ahead. Just check the weather and take off for an hour or two, or for the day. There were 4 wineries within a few miles, all with gorgeous views and pleasant, helpful staff. Of course there are many places to eat out. Our favorites were Roots Cafe and Lynnie Lou's ice cream. We visited Sonnenburg Gardens, a beautiful mansion with acres of flowers on the grounds. Canandaigua is a gorgeous town with lots to see. I hope to return soon to the cottage and would recommend it highly."

  • Finger Lakes Wine Tasting Trip 2013

"Every year our group of 10 travel to the Finger Lakes for 3 days of wine tasting and relaxation. This year we decided to rent a house rather than stay at an hotel, and we couldn't have made a better choice. Lakecrest Manor offered everything and more. The owners were very easy to deal with and the property was exactly as it was portrayed it to be. Being so close to the water was fantastic, and watching the moon shine over the lake while sitting by the outdoor fire each evening was breathtaking. Coffee and breakfast on the outdoor deck watching the sun rise is spectacular. I highly recommend Lakecrest and all it has to offer. We will definitely return for our next weekend stay."

  • A 3 day, mid-week stay

"An English cottage garden is what you think of when you view this property from the front yard. Hollyhocks, Shasta Daisies, Bachelor Buttons and more fill the front yard instead of your traditional lawn. I was impressed that everywhere we walked, we saw equally impressive gardens around town. We visited the Farmer's Market on Wednesday afternoon and were even more impressed with the work of gardeners with their variety of produce! It seems as though everything is within walking distance, depending on your level of ability. We did our share of walking just around town and at the nearby parks. There is no reason not to go outdoors and find something to do. We saw the "big" lighthouse and museum and the smaller "working" lighthouse by the Sodus Point Beach Park. The beach park is a great place to go with the family and have a picnic lunch. There was a huge shelter with plenty of picnic tables to go around. If you like to fish, there is plenty of room along the break-wall to park yourself and spend a pleasant day. There are plenty of places to eat as well in the Business District. We had lunch at Abe's Waterfront upon our arrival. We loved the lobster bisque! My greek salad with chicken was large and fulfilling! We also had dinner at The Bay Street Hotel. The food there is Caribbean based. My dinner had a nice spicy little kick to it, but delicious. If you are into martinis, be prepared to read a "book" to find one you like! It's insane and insanely good! There are plenty of things to do within a reasonable drive from here as well. There is Chimney Bluffs State Park, which we did not get to. If you are staying over the weekend during the summer, the Sterling Renaissance Festival is only a 45 minute drive away. Our host was a very pleasant and helpful gentleman and an avid gardener. Our accommodations were more than adequate! We had everything we needed in a very clean and comfortable environment. There was even a large grill in the backyard you can use to cook your lunch or dinner. Just make yourself at home. Our stay was low key and relaxing....your mileage may vary!"
