  • Family Vacation with Young Adult Children

"Our host welcomed us on our arrival and explained the ins/outs of the house and the area. They reached out to us several times during the week to see if we needed anything, it was very reassuring. The location of the home is perfect and the views of the lake are just breath-taking. The house was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was stocked with every pot or pan you could imagine needing. It is difficult to plan a vacation with teenagers/young adult children and make every one happy. The house had plenty of room for 7 adults to spread out and relax. The kids kept busy with kayaking, fishing and hiking. Everywhere you might want to go was within walking distance. This place is a real gem and we can't wait to plan another family vacation at Canandaigua Lake."

  • We love Twix

"This has been the best vacation property we have rented in the Finger Lakes. The first time we stayed here was in October 2013, we also rented Twix in September 2014 and we will be there again in September 2015. We stayed there with our friends and some family. Being there in October was gorgeous. The leaves were just turning color and the weather was perfect. There were just 9 of us and we had more than enough room. The water was too chilly to go swimming but we were able to use the row boat and the 2 kayaks that were there. My sister brought her 2 kayaks to add to the fun. The row boat can hold up to 5 people and it has 2 sets of ores. We spent a lot of time in the row boat and kayaks and at the fire pit, that weekend. We gathered a lot firewood while hiking. During the evenings, it got really chilly and there were space heaters that warmed up the houses. When we went in September we had so much fun. This time, there were 11 people that came with us. The weather was so warm during the day, that we spent most of the time in the water. Even the dog played in the water and went swimming. There was very little seaweed, it just ran along the shore but once you got past it, it was great. We brought some inner tubes and there were some there, already. This time, we had wood delivered to the house soon after we arrived. It was easy getting the wood to the beach. We barely spent time in the house, but we could get wifi signal down on the beach, which was awesome. Having the 2 houses was great. We were able to have the morning people in the small house and the late sleepers in the big house. And with the amount of space between the houses and the beach, noise was not an issue. We love that the fire pit is on the beach, we had a fire going every day, all day until we went to bed. In the mornings, we cooked breakfast and coffee on the fire pit as the sun was rising over the trees. And in the evenings, most of us would be sitting around the fire as we settled down for the day and watch the sun set over the lake. Some of us used the kayaks and row boat to go fishing in the early morning or in the early evenings. There is a garage under the small house that you can access from the beach. It houses the kayaks, ores, and random floatation devices. It had plenty of room to store the extra kayaks and other random things that we brought. With having 2 houses, a large secluded beach and lots of land to go hiking, this place is ideal."

  • worth all the stars

"was not sure when I saw all the 5 star ratings how real the reviews were. Took a chance and drove out to look at it and it appeared as advertised. Decided to rent and was glad we did. Weather was very nice for our stay and we really enjoyed the cabin and the area. Naples, Grimes Glen and the Garrett Chapel were all very pleasant to visit and added to the enjoyable stay. Stairs may be a problem for some but look upon them as good exercise and you will be OK. Because it is on a dead end road traffic was very minimal and helped with our nightly walks. Would go back again and would recommend as a rental."
