"'We' heard about an exhibit in Copake Falls about camps 'in the area' from the 1920's, and on. One thing led to another and 'We' decided that this was the time for a camp reunion. I immediately Gooogled 'Houses in Copake', and lo and behold, this beautiful house, right on, what we knew as Lake Rhoda (now Upper Rhoda Pond) appeared before me. This was almost unbelievable as most of us had not been back to West Copake for a good 50 years. So, after much arranging, 7 of us made our way, as far as Nashville and Colorado to our beloved lake. The house welcomed us with open arms, and the lake, as if we had never left. We almost immediately took out one of the canoes and made our way around the lake. We ate outside on the deck with a well stocked kitchen to make us feel right at home. We chose our BR's easily, as there were 2 sets of Sisters who shared a bed. The next day, we had about 20 people at the house for lunch, and between the outdoor spaces to sit, the welcoming size of the house, nothing ever felt crowded. The BR's were lovely, clean and cozy. Saturday night 3 more people stayed over and they too, were just as comfortable in the Gurst House. We did not get a chance to go swimming, although the lake was warm, we simply were not there long enough. The whole process of renting the house was easy, due to the professionalism of the rental agent/property manager. I do believe that each of us would go back in a heartbeat, and HAPILY stay for more than a weekend."

"Four of us used the Barn for July 4 week. (We were two couples delighted to have sent our kids to sleepaway camp for two weeks. But now we want to come back with them because the loft is so brilliant for a little kid slumber party.) The location is wonderful - miles of beautiful rural scenery, Bash Bish falls, tons of great hikes, Great Barrington, Hudson, Tanglewood, etc. - but we knew that already. What surprised us was the property and the accommodations. We spent hours just sitting out on the lawn, sipping wine, staring out at the scenery and listening to all the crazy sounds of nature (flowing water, frogs, birds). Inside, we couldn't have been more comfortable. Beds were good, showers were good, dishwasher and appliances worked well, washer and dryer were great. It is an awesome accomplishment to create such modern comfort in an authentic space like that.
Also, Joe was wildly responsive to us. We asked way too many questions and he answered them all. He is proud of his property and cares about people enjoying their stay. If you're considering multiple properties, that should be the tie breaker."

"We were looking for a special place to celebrate my wife's retirement with our kids, & their mates. This house was PERFECT. The views, from the moment you enter, are astounding. The lake is just right there! Denise's attention to detail is fantastic. She was available to answer any small question or concern- without being in any way intrusive. We know (& love) the area ,having spent so many years of our youth at summer camp nearby- so being in THIS house was spectacular. The area has just so much to offer- The Saturday AM Farmer's Market was a hit- as well as the Hillsdale Arts Fair. No trip to the area is complete without a trip to the Swiss Hutte (one of our favorite restaurants in the world!) , as well as the casual Four Brothers. The firepit was a great hit- making s'mores & great family memories. Even hiking Bash Bish in the rain, with umbrellas, was amazing. The kayaks were used for peaceful trips around the lake. You will LOVE your stay here! We can't wait for the opportunity to return!"

"We had a great time for two weeks. Plenty to do nearby and the house is cozy and the kitchen is very good. Our dog loved it as well. Having no tv was a real plus, we played Monopoly and other games with our two grandchildren and got totally connected. Nice setting in the woods, quiet, peaceful and cool. I definitely recommend it."
