  • Family Reunion - Countless Memories

"Celebrated my mother's 70th this summer by serving up three generations in one house for one week. There was something for everyone - actually, we did not even get to all the stuff we wanted to do. The house was immediately comfortable, while having all the amenities necessary to have a great vacation. The kayaks were used multiple times a day, as was the hot tub. The lakefront offered us endless hours of fishing. My 8-year old caught her first fish (and then some 10 more!) over the course of our week's stay. My husband & I ran each day along the lake and the sights of deer, beaver, bunnies and more were so fun. We went cherry picking at a nearby farm. We ventured off to the Catamount Adventure Park - a zip-line galaxy of fun. We climbed Bash Bish Falls - yes, even our matriarch made the excursion! And the very best was the view each and every day - rain or shine - of the lake itself. Each of us stole quiet moments in the early morning to watch the sunrise and later that day would return for a festive gathering around the campfire. The rainbow that decorated the skies on our final night completed the entire experience. We would love to make the Copake Lake House an annual trek...fingers crossed we will be able to!"

  • Great weekend away with Girls!

"My friends and I of 40+ years spent a weekend away here. It was lovely. The house was roomy for 10 women. We paid extra for the pool to be heated. It really didn't heat up until Sunday though. The kitchen was great to work in. Many venues for relaxing and having fun. Large back deck for gathering. A great front porch to relax on. We lit a fire pool side at night. All beds were comfy. I'd highly recommend this home!"

  • An incredible fall getaway with close friends and our labrador

"Our weekend getaway to Idle Hour Farm exceeded all expectations. In fact, I would say it was the best weekend of my life. A group of 10 of us New York City dwellers packed our bags for what inevitably became a relaxing, rejuvenating, and inexplicably delightful stay. The pictures are lovely, but hardly do the place justice. It's hard to capture that end-of-summer / beginning-of-fall magic. The leaves were turning colors and beginning to fall, and the way the sunlight hit the lake and the illuminated the golden colors of the leaves in the backyard was just stunning. Our labrador had his first swim in the lake / pond out back, and was so happy to have so much freedom to run around and play fetch and to nap in the sun. We really lucked out with 80 degree weather, and some of the group went swimming and took the little paddleboat out onto the water. At night, we used the propane grill to make a feast of grilled vegetables, burgers, hot dogs, and the works. The little beach near the water became the perfect place to gather around the bonfire pit, roasting s'mores (it was a first for the Australian and Swede who were with us) and listening to my boyfriend play the guitar by the campfire. Two from our group went on a nearby scenic hike that Susan had recommended, to the Fire Tower. We had planned to go to the nearby vineyard for a wine tasting and to the orchard for apple picking but we just couldn't pull ourselves away from the house. It was everything we needed and more. There was plenty of space for the 10 of us, with big, comfortable rooms, an open office that perfectly fit an air mattress, and two huge, comfy couches down in the basement. The basement area became our hangout spot for the first night, where there was also a nice, well-equipped kitchen with all the amenities you could need, and a great dining room table. We listened to music and relaxed downstairs for the night. The next evening, we played Scrabble out on the expansive deck and continued to relax out there through dinnertime; the table fit our entire feast (cupcakes and wine and all) and was just wonderful. Everyone had an absolutely amazing time. It was certainly a weekend we'll all remember for years to come. Thank you Susan, for sharing your beautiful home with us for the weekend."

  • Rustic romantic get away

"A lovely little winter get away on a farm. The yurt is unique and well insolated. Kitchen equipment is basic (and from the 70s) but works just fine. Beth is quite helpful the animals are friendly though unless your dog is used to farm animals I strongly recommend keeping them on leash. Also the yurt does smell a bit from the gas fireplace and oven. Overall i found the yurt to be private and romantic and we plan to come back. Oh and is snowed but the streets were well plowed."
